Ezekiel 21:8 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 So the word of the Lord came to me again. He said,
2 "Son of man, look toward Jerusalem and speak against their holy places. Speak against the land of Israel for me.
3 Say to the land of Israel, 'This is what the Lord said: I am against you! I will pull my sword from its sheath. I will remove all people from you—the good and the evil.
4 I will cut both good people and evil people from you. I will pull my sword from its sheath and use it against all people from south to north.
5 Then everyone will know that I am the Lord. They will know that I have pulled my sword from its sheath. My sword will not go back into its sheath again until it is finished.'
6 "Son of man, make sad sounds like a sad person with a broken heart. Make these sad sounds in front of the people.
7 Then they will ask you, 'Why are you making these sad sounds?' Then you must say, 'Because of the sad news that is coming. Every heart will melt with fear. All hands will become weak. Every spirit will become weak. All knees will be like water.' Look, that bad news is coming. These things will happen!" This is what the Lord God said.
8 The word of the Lord came to me. He said,
9 "Son of man, speak to the people for me. Say this, 'This is what the Lord God says: "'Look, a sword, a sharp sword, and it has been polished.
10 The sword was made sharp for killing. It was polished to flash like lightning. My son, you ran away from the stick I used to punish you. You refused to be punished with that wooden stick.
11 So the sword has been polished. Now it can be used. The sword was sharpened and polished. Now it can be put in the hand of the killer.
12 "'Son of man, shout out and scream because the sword will be used against my people and all the rulers of Israel. They wanted war—so they will be with my people when the sword comes. So slap your thigh to show your sadness,
13 because it is not just a test. You refused to be punished with the wooden stick, so what else should I use to punish you? {A sword?}'" This is what the Lord God said.
14 "Son of man, clap your hands to show your sadness, and speak to the people for me. "Let the sword come down twice, no, three times! This sword is for killing the people. This is the sword for the great killing. This sword will cut into them.
15 Their hearts will melt with fear, and many people will fall. The sword will kill many people by the city gates. Yes, the sword will flash like lightning. It was polished to kill the people!
16 Sword, be sharp! Cut on the right side. Cut straight ahead. Cut on the left side. Go wherever your edge was chosen to go.
17 "Then I, too, will clap my hands and stop showing my anger. I, the Lord, have spoken!"
18 The word of the Lord came to me. He said,
19 "Son of man, draw two roads that the sword of the king of Babylon can use to come to Israel. Both roads will come from the same country. Then draw a sign at the head of the road to the city.
20 Use the sign to show which road the sword will use. One road leads to the Ammonite city of Rabbah. The other road leads to Judah, to the protected city, Jerusalem.
21 This shows that the king of Babylon has come to the place where the two roads separate. He has used magic signs to find the future. He shook some arrows. He asked questions from family idols. He looked at the liver from an animal he killed.
22 "The signs tell him to take the road on his right, the road leading to Jerusalem! He plans to bring the battering rams. He will give the command, and his soldiers will begin the killing. They will shout the battle cry. Then they will build a wall of dirt around the city. They will build a dirt road leading up to the walls. They will build wooden towers to attack the city.
23 Those magic signs mean nothing to the people of Israel. They have the promises they made. But {the Lord} will remember their sin, so the Israelites will be captured."
24 This is what the Lord God says: "You have done many evil things. Your sins are very clear. You forced me to remember that you are guilty, so the enemy will catch you in his hand.
25 And you, evil leader of Israel, you will be killed. Your time of punishment has come! The end is here!"
26 This is what the Lord God says: "Take off the turban! Take off the crown! The time has come to change. The important leaders will be brought low, and those who are not important now will become important leaders.
27 I will completely destroy that city! But this will not happen until the right man becomes the new king. Then I will let him have this city."
28 "Son of man, speak to the people for me. Say this, 'This is what the Lord God says to the people of Ammon and their shameful god: "'Look, a sword! The sword is out of its sheath. It has been polished. The sword is ready to kill. It was polished to flash like lightning!
29 "'Your visions are useless. Your magic will not help you. It is only a bunch of lies. The sword is now at the throats of evil men. They will soon be only dead bodies. Their time has come. The time has come for their evil to end.
30 "'Put the sword back in its sheath. Babylon, I will judge you in the place where you were created, in the land where you were born.
31 I will pour out my anger against you. My anger will burn you like a hot wind. I will hand you over to cruel men. Those men are skilled at killing people.
32 You will be like fuel for the fire. Your blood will flow deep into the earth—people will never remember you again. I, the Lord, have spoken!'"

2 Son H1121 of man H120 NMS , set H7760 VQFC thy face H6440 CMP-2MS toward H413 PREP Jerusalem H3389 , and drop H5197 thy word toward H413 PREP the holy places H4720 , and prophesy H5012 against H413 PREP the land H127 of Israel H3478 LMS ,
3 And say H559 to the land H127 of Israel H3478 , Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 EDS ; Behold H2009 , I am against H413 thee , and will draw forth H3318 my sword H2719 out of his sheath H8593 , and will cut off H3772 from H4480 thee the righteous H6662 AMS and the wicked H7563 .
4 Seeing then H3282 ADV that H834 RPRO I will cut off H3772 from H4480 thee the righteous H6662 AMS and the wicked H7563 W-AMS , therefore H3651 L-ADV shall my sword H2719 go forth H3318 out of his sheath H8593 against H413 PREP all H3605 NMS flesh H1320 NMS from the south H5045 M-EFS to the north H6828 :
5 That all H3605 NMS flesh H1320 NMS may know H3045 that H3588 CONJ I H589 PPRO-1MS the LORD H3068 EDS have drawn forth H3318 my sword H2719 out of his sheath H8593 : it shall not H3808 NADV return H7725 VQY3FS any more H5750 ADV .
6 Sigh H584 therefore , thou H859 W-PPRO-2MS son H1121 CMS of man H120 NMS , with the breaking H7670 of thy loins H4975 ; and with bitterness H4814 sigh H584 before their eyes H5869 L-CMD-3MP .
7 And it shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS , when H3588 CONJ they say H559 VQY3MP unto H413 PREP thee , Wherefore H4100 IGAT sighest H584 thou H859 PPRO-2MS ? that thou shalt answer H559 , For H413 PREP the tidings H8052 ; because H3588 CONJ it cometh H935 : and every H3605 NMS heart H3820 NMS shall melt H4549 , and all H3605 NMS hands H3027 NFD shall be feeble H7503 , and every H3605 NMS spirit H7307 NFS shall faint H3543 , and all H3605 NMS knees H1290 shall be weak H1980 as water H4325 : behold H2009 IJEC , it cometh H935 , and shall be brought to pass H1961 W-VQQ3MS , saith H5002 the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 .
8 Again the word H1697 NMS of the LORD H3068 EDS came H1961 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-1MS me , saying H559 L-VQFC ,
9 Son H1121 of man H120 NMS , prophesy H5012 , and say H559 , Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H136 EDS ; Say H559 , A sword H2719 GFS , a sword H2719 GFS is sharpened H2300 , and also H1571 W-CONJ furbished H4803 :
10 It is sharpened H2300 to H4616 L-CONJ make a sore slaughter H2873 ; it is furbished H4803 that H4616 L-CONJ it may glitter H1300 : should we then H176 CONJ make mirth H7797 ? it contemneth H3988 the rod H7626 CMS of my son H1121 NMS-1MS , as every H3605 NMS tree H6086 NMS .
11 And he hath given H5414 W-VQQ3MS it to be furbished H4803 , that it may be handled H8610 : this H1931 sword H2719 GFS is sharpened H2300 , and it H1931 is furbished H4803 , to give H5414 L-VQFC it into the hand H3027 B-CFS of the slayer H2026 .
12 Cry H2199 and howl H3213 , son H1121 of man H120 NMS : for H3588 CONJ it H1931 PPRO-3FS shall be H1961 upon my people H5971 , it H1931 PPRO-3FS shall be upon all H3605 B-CMS the princes H5387 of Israel H3478 : terrors H4048 by reason of H413 PREP the sword H2719 GFS shall be H1961 VQQ3MP upon H854 PREP my people H5971 : smite H5606 therefore H3651 L-ADV upon H413 PREP thy thigh H3409 .
13 Because H3588 CONJ it is a trial H974 , and what H4100 W-IGAT if H518 PART the sword contemn H3988 even H1571 CONJ the rod H7626 CMS ? it shall be H1961 VQY3MS no H3808 NADV more , saith H5002 the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 .
14 Thou H859 W-PPRO-2MS therefore , son H1121 CMS of man H120 NMS , prophesy H5012 , and smite thine hands together H413 PREP , and let the sword H2719 GFS be doubled H3717 the third time H7992 , the sword H2719 GFS of the slain H2491 NMP : it H1931 PPRO-3FS is the sword H2719 GFS of the great H1419 D-AMS men that are slain H2491 , which entereth into their privy chambers H2314 .
15 I have set H5414 VQQ1MS the point H19 of the sword H2719 NFS against H5921 PREP all H3605 NMS their gates H8179 , that H4616 L-CONJ their heart H3820 NMS may faint H4127 , and their ruins H4383 be multiplied H7235 : ah H253 ! it is made bright H6213 , it is wrapped up H4593 for the slaughter H2874 .
16 Go thee one way or other H258 , either on the right hand H3231 , or on the left H8041 , whithersoever H575 ADV thy face H6440 is set H3259 .
17 I H589 PPRO-1MS will also H1571 W-CONJ smite H5221 mine hands together H413 PREP , and I will cause my fury H2534 to rest H5117 : I H589 PPRO-1MS the LORD H3068 EDS have said H1696 it .
18 The word H1697 NMS of the LORD H3068 EDS came H1961 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-1MS me again , saying H559 L-VQFC ,
19 Also , thou H859 W-PPRO-2MS son H1121 CMS of man H120 NMS , appoint H7760 VQFC thee two H8147 ONUM ways H1870 , that the sword H2719 GFS of the king H4428 NMS of Babylon H894 LFS may come H935 L-VQFC : both twain H8147 ONUM-3MP shall come forth H3318 out of one land H776 M-NFS : and choose H1254 thou a place H3027 , choose H1254 it at the head H7218 B-NMS of the way H1870 to the city H5892 GFS .
20 Appoint H7760 VQY2MS a way H1870 NMS , that the sword H2719 GFS may come H935 L-VQFC to H854 Rabbath H7237 of the Ammonites H1121 , and to H854 Judah H3063 in Jerusalem H3389 the defensed H1219 .
21 For H3588 CONJ the king H4428 NMS of Babylon H894 LFS stood H5975 at H413 PREP the parting H517 GFS of the way H1870 D-NMS , at the head H7218 B-NMS of the two H8147 ONUM ways H1870 , to use H7080 divination H7081 : he made his arrows bright H7043 , he consulted H7592 with images H8655 , he looked H7200 VQQ3MS in the liver H3516 .
22 At his right hand H3225 was H1961 VQQ3MS the divination H7081 for Jerusalem H3389 , to appoint H7760 L-VQFC captains H3733 , to open H6605 the mouth H6310 in the slaughter H7524 , to lift up H7311 the voice H6963 CMS with shouting H8643 B-NFS , to appoint H7760 L-VQFC battering rams H3733 against H5921 PREP the gates H8179 NMP , to cast H8210 a mount H5550 , and to build H1129 a fort H1785 .
23 And it shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS unto them as a false H7723 divination H7080 in their sight H5869 , to them that have sworn H7650 oaths H7621 : but he H1931 W-PPRO-3MS will call to remembrance H2142 the iniquity H5771 NMS , that they may be taken H8610 .
24 Therefore H3651 L-ADV thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 ; Because H3282 ADV ye have made your iniquity H5771 to be remembered H2142 , in that your transgressions H6588 are discovered H1540 , so that in all H3605 your doings H5949 your sins H2403 do appear H7200 ; because H3282 ADV , I say , that ye are come to remembrance H2142 , ye shall be taken H8610 with the hand H3709 .
25 And thou H859 W-PPRO-2MS , profane H2491 wicked H7563 AMS prince H5387 of Israel H3478 , whose H834 RPRO day H3117 CMS-3MS is come H935 VQPMS , when H6256 iniquity H5771 shall have an end H7093 ,
26 Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 ; Remove H5493 the diadem H4701 , and take off H7311 the crown H5850 : this H2063 DPRO shall not H3808 NADV be the same H2063 DPRO : exalt H1361 him that is low H8217 , and abase H8213 him that is high H1364 .
27 I will H7760 overturn H5754 , overturn H5754 , overturn H5754 , it : and H1571 CONJ it H2063 DPRO shall be H1961 VQQ3MS no H3808 NADV more , until H5704 PREP he come H935 whose H834 RPRO right H4941 it is ; and I will give H5414 it him .
28 And thou H859 , son H1121 of man H120 NMS , prophesy H5012 and say H559 , Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 concerning H413 PREP the Ammonites H1121 , and concerning H413 PREP their reproach H2781 ; even say H559 thou , The sword H2719 GFS , the sword H2719 GFS is drawn H6605 : for the slaughter H2874 it is furbished H4803 , to consume H3557 because of H4616 L-CONJ the glittering H1300 :
29 While they see H2372 vanity H7723 NMS unto thee , while they divine H7080 a lie H3577 unto thee , to bring H5414 L-VQFC thee upon H413 PREP the necks H6677 of them that are slain H2491 , of the wicked H7563 AMP , whose H834 RPRO day H3119 is come H935 VQPMS , when H6256 their iniquity H5771 shall have an end H7093 .
30 Shall I cause it to return H7725 into H413 PREP his sheath H8593 ? I will judge H8199 thee in the place H4725 B-CMS where H834 RPRO thou wast created H1254 , in the land H776 B-GFS of thy nativity H4351 .
31 And I will pour out H8210 mine indignation H2195 upon H5921 thee , I will blow H6315 against H5921 thee in the fire H784 of my wrath H5678 , and deliver H5414 thee into the hand H3027 B-CFS of brutish H1197 men H376 NMP , and skillful H2796 to destroy H4889 .
32 Thou shalt be H1961 VQY2MS for fuel H402 L-NFS to the fire H784 ; thy blood H1818 shall be H1961 VQY3MS in the midst H8432 B-NMS of the land H776 D-GFS ; thou shalt be no H3808 NADV more remembered H2142 : for H3588 CONJ I H589 PPRO-1MS the LORD H3068 EDS have spoken H1696 it .
