Zechariah 9:1 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 A message from God. This is the Lord's message against Hadrach's country and his capital city, Damascus. "The tribes of Israel are not the only people who know about God. Everyone looks to him for help.
2 And this message is against Hamath, which borders Hadrach's country. And this message is against Tyre and Sidon, even though those people have been so wise and skillful.
3 Tyre is built like a fort. The people there have collected so much silver that it is like dust, and gold is as common as clay.
4 But the Lord God will take it all. He will destroy her powerful navy and that city will be destroyed by fire!
5 "The people in Ashkelon will see this and they will be afraid. The people of Gaza will shake with fear, and the people of Ekron will lose all hope when they see this happen. There will be no king left in Gaza. No one will live in Ashkelon anymore.
6 The people in Ashdod will not even know who their real fathers are. I will completely destroy the proud Philistines.
7 They will no longer eat meat with the blood still in it or any other forbidden food. Any Philistine left alive will become a part of my people; they will be just one more tribe in Judah. The people of Ekron will become a part of my people, as the Jebusites did.
8 I will protect my country. I will not let enemy armies pass through it. I will not let them hurt my people anymore. With my own eyes I saw how much my people suffered."
9 People of Zion, rejoice! People of Jerusalem, shout with joy! Look, your king is coming to you! He is the good king who won the victory, but he is humble. He is riding on a donkey, on a young donkey born from a work animal.
10 The king says, "I destroyed the chariots in Ephraim and the horse soldiers in Jerusalem. I destroyed the bows used in war." That king will bring news of peace to the nations. He will rule from sea to sea, from the Euphrates River to all the faraway places on earth.
11 Jerusalem, we used blood to seal your agreement, so I am setting your people free from that empty hole in the ground.
12 Prisoners, go home! Now you have something to hope for. I am telling you now, I am coming back to you.
13 Judah, I will use you like a bow. Ephraim, I will use you like arrows. Israel, I will use you like a sword to fight against the men of Greece.
14 The Lord will appear to them, and he will shoot his arrows like lightning. The Lord God will blow the trumpet, and the army will rush forward like a desert dust storm.
15 The Lord All-Powerful will protect them. The soldiers will use rocks and slings to defeat the enemy. They will spill the blood of their enemies. It will flow like wine. It will be like the blood that is thrown on the corners of the altar!
16 At that time the Lord their God will save his people like a shepherd saves his sheep. They will be very precious to him. They will be like sparkling jewels in his land.
17 Everything will be good and beautiful! There will be a wonderful crop, but it will not be just the food and wine. It will be all the young men and women!

2 And Hamath H2574 also H1571 W-CONJ shall border H1379 thereby ; Tyrus H6865 , and Zidon H6721 , though H3588 CONJ it be very H3966 ADV wise H2449 .
3 And Tyrus H6865 did build H1129 herself a stronghold H4692 , and heaped up H6651 silver H3701 NMS as the dust H6083 , and fine gold H2742 as the mire H2916 of the streets H2351 CFP .
4 Behold H2009 IJEC , the Lord H136 EDS will cast her out H3423 , and he will smite H5221 her power H2428 in the sea H3220 ; and she H1931 shall be devoured H398 with fire H784 .
5 Ashkelon H831 shall see H7200 it , and fear H3372 ; Gaza H5804 also shall see it , and be very sorrowful H3966 ADV , and Ekron H6138 ; for H3588 CONJ her expectation H4007 shall be ashamed H954 ; and the king H4428 NMS shall perish H6 from Gaza H5804 , and Ashkelon H831 shall not H3808 NADV be inhabited H3427 .
6 And a bastard H4464 shall dwell H3427 in Ashdod H795 , and I will cut off H3772 the pride H1347 CMS of the Philistines H6430 .
7 And I will take away H5493 his blood H1818 out of his mouth H6310 M-CMS-3MS , and his abominations H8251 from between H996 his teeth H8127 CMD-3MS : but he that remaineth H7604 , even H1571 CONJ he H1931 PPRO-3MS , shall be for our God H430 , and he shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS as a governor H441 in Judah H3063 , and Ekron H6138 as a Jebusite H2983 .
8 And I will encamp H2583 about mine house H1004 because of the army H4675 , because of him that passeth by , and because of him that returneth H7725 : and no H3808 W-NPAR oppressor H5065 shall pass H5674 through H5921 PREP-3MP them any more H5750 ADV : for H3588 CONJ now H6258 ADV have I seen H7200 VQQ1MS with mine eyes H5869 .
9 Rejoice H1523 greatly H3966 ADV , O daughter H1323 CFS of Zion H6726 ; shout H7321 , O daughter H1323 CFS of Jerusalem H3389 : behold H2009 IJEC , thy King H4428 cometh H935 VQY3MS unto thee : he H1931 PPRO-3MS is just H6662 AMS , and having salvation H3467 ; lowly H6041 AMS , and riding H7392 upon H5921 PREP an ass H2543 CMS , and upon H5921 PREP a colt H5895 the foal H1121 of an ass H860 .
10 And I will cut off H3772 the chariot H7393 from Ephraim H669 , and the horse H5483 from Jerusalem H3389 , and the battle H4421 NFS bow H7198 CFS shall be cut off H3772 : and he shall speak H1696 peace H7965 NMS unto the heathen H1471 LD-NMP : and his dominion H4915 shall be from sea H3220 M-NMS even to H5704 PREP sea H3220 NMS , and from the river H5104 even to H5704 PREP the ends H657 of the earth H776 GFS .
11 As for thee H859 also H1571 CONJ , by the blood H1818 of thy covenant H1285 I have sent forth H7971 thy prisoners H615 out of the pit H953 wherein is no H369 NPAR water H4325 OMD .
12 Turn H7725 you to the stronghold H1225 , ye prisoners H615 of hope H8615 : even H1571 CONJ today H3117 D-AMS do I declare H5046 VHPMS that I will render H7725 double H4932 unto thee ;
13 When H3588 CONJ I have bent H1869 Judah H3063 for me , filled H4390 the bow H7198 CFS with Ephraim H669 , and raised H5782 up thy sons H1121 , O Zion H6726 , against H5921 PREP thy sons H1121 , O Greece H3120 EMS , and made H7760 thee as the sword H2719 of a mighty man H1368 .
14 And the LORD H3068 W-EDS shall be seen H7200 over H5921 PREP-3MP them , and his arrow H2671 shall go forth H3318 as the lightning H1300 : and the Lord H136 GOD H3069 shall blow H8628 the trumpet H7782 , and shall go H1980 with whirlwinds H5591 of the south H8486 .
15 The LORD H3068 EDS of hosts H6635 shall defend H1598 them ; and they shall devour H398 , and subdue H3533 with slingstones H7050 ; and they shall drink H8354 , and make a noise H1993 as through H3644 PREP wine H3196 ; and they shall be filled H4390 like bowls H4219 , and as the corners H2106 of the altar H4196 .
16 And the LORD H3068 EDS their God H430 shall save H3467 them in that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS day H3117 B-AMS as the flock H6629 of his people H5971 : for H3588 CONJ they shall be as the stones H68 CMP of a crown H5145 , lifted up as an ensign H5264 upon H5921 PREP his land H127 .
17 For H3588 CONJ how H4100 IPRO great is his goodness H2898 , and how H4100 IPRO great is his beauty H3308 ! corn H1715 shall make the young men H970 cheerful H5107 , and new wine H8492 the maids H1330 .
