2 Chronicles 8:1 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 It took 20 years for King Solomon to build the Lord's Temple and the king's palace.
2 Then Solomon rebuilt the towns that Hiram gave him and then moved Israelites into those towns to live there.
3 After this Solomon went to Hamath of Zobah and captured it.
4 He also built the town of Tadmor in the desert. He built all the towns in Hamath to store things in.
5 He rebuilt the towns of Upper Beth Horon and Lower Beth Horon. He made them into strong forts with strong walls, gates, and bars in the gates.
6 He also rebuilt the town of Baalath and all the other towns where he stored things. He built all the cities where the chariots were kept and the horse riders lived. Solomon built all he wanted in Jerusalem, Lebanon, and in all the country where he was king.
7 There were many people left in the land who were not Israelites. There were Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. The Israelites had not been able to destroy them, but Solomon forced them to work for him as slaves. They are still slaves today.

9 Solomon did not force any of the Israelites to be his slaves. They were soldiers, government officials, officers, captains, and chariot commanders and drivers.
10 There were 250 supervisors over Solomon's projects. They supervised the men.
11 Solomon brought Pharaoh's daughter up from the City of David to the house he built for her. He said, "My wife must not live in King David's palace because the places where the Box of the Agreement has been are holy places."
12 Then Solomon offered burnt offerings to the Lord on the Lord's altar. He built that altar in front of the Temple porch.
13 Solomon offered sacrifices every day the way Moses commanded. Sacrifices were to be offered on Sabbath days, during New Moon celebrations, and at the three yearly festivals. The three yearly festivals were the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Weeks, and the Festival of Shelters.
14 Solomon followed his father David's instructions. He chose the groups of priests for their service and the Levites for their duties. The Levites were to lead the praise and help the priests from day to day to do what needed to be done in the Temple service. And he chose the gatekeepers by their groups to serve at each gate. This is the way David, the man of God, instructed.
15 The Israelites did not change or disobey any of Solomon's instructions to the priests and Levites. They did not change any of the instructions, even in the way they should keep the valuable things.
16 So Solomon completed his work on the Lord's Temple. Work began the day they laid the foundation and continued without stopping until the day the Temple was finished.
17 King Solomon also built ships at Ezion Geber. This town is near Elath on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.
18 Hiram sent ships to Solomon. Hiram's own men sailed the ships. They were skilled at sailing on the sea. His men went with Solomon's servants to Ophir and brought back 17 tons of gold to King Solomon.

2 That the cities H5892 which H834 Huram H2438 had restored H5414 to Solomon, H8010 Solomon H8010 built H1129 them , and caused H853 the children H1121 of Israel H3478 to dwell H3427 there. H8033
3 And Solomon H8010 went H1980 to Hamath- H2578 zobah , and prevailed H2388 against H5921 it.
4 And he built H1129 H853 Tadmor H8412 in the wilderness, H4057 and all H3605 the store H4543 cities, H5892 which H834 he built H1129 in Hamath. H2574
5 Also he built H1129 H853 Beth- H1032 horon the upper, H5945 and Beth- H1032 horon the nether, H8481 fenced H4692 cities, H5892 with walls, H2346 gates, H1817 and bars; H1280
6 And Baalath, H1191 and all H3605 the store H4543 cities H5892 that H834 Solomon H8010 had, H1961 and all H3605 the chariot H7393 cities, H5892 and the cities H5892 of the horsemen, H6571 and all H3605 that H834 Solomon H8010 desired H2837 H2836 to build H1129 in Jerusalem, H3389 and in Lebanon, H3844 and throughout all H3605 the land H776 of his dominion. 7 As for all H3605 the people H5971 that were left H3498 of H4480 the Hittites, H2850 and the Amorites, H567 and the Perizzites, H6522 and the Hivites, H2340 and the Jebusites, H2983 which H834 were not H3808 of Israel H4480 H3478 ,
8 But of H4480 their children, H1121 who H834 were left H3498 after H310 them in the land, H776 whom H834 the children H1121 of Israel H3478 consumed H3615 not, H3808 them did Solomon H8010 make to pay H5927 tribute H4522 until H5704 this H2088 day. H3117
9 But of H4480 the children H1121 of Israel H3478 did Solomon H8010 make H5414 no H3808 servants H5650 for his work; H4399 but H3588 they H1992 were men H376 of war, H4421 and chief H8269 of his captains, H7991 and captains H8269 of his chariots H7393 and horsemen. H6571
10 And these H428 were the chief H8269 of king H4428 Solomon's H8010 officers, H5324 even two hundred H3967 and fifty, H2572 that bore rule H7287 over the people. H5971
11 And Solomon H8010 brought up H5927 the daughter H1323 of Pharaoh H6547 out of the city H4480 H5892 of David H1732 unto the house H1004 that H834 he had built H1129 for her: for H3588 he said, H559 My wife H802 shall not H3808 dwell H3427 in the house H1004 of David H1732 king H4428 of Israel, H3478 because H3588 the places are holy, H6944 whereunto H834 H413 the ark H727 of the LORD H3068 hath come. 13 Even after a certain rate H1697 every day H3117 H3117 , offering H5927 according to the commandment H4687 of Moses, H4872 on the sabbaths, H7676 and on the new moons, H2320 and on the solemn feasts, H4150 three H7969 times H6471 in the year, H8141 even in the feast H2282 of unleavened bread, H4682 and in the feast H2282 of weeks, H7620 and in the feast H2282 of tabernacles. 14 And he appointed, H5975 according to the order H4941 of David H1732 his father, H1 H853 the courses H4256 of the priests H3548 to H5921 their service, H5656 and the Levites H3881 to H5921 their charges, H4931 to praise H1984 and minister H8334 before H5048 the priests, H3548 as the duty H1697 of every day required H3117 H3117 : the porters H7778 also by their courses H4256 at every gate H8179 H8179 : for H3588 so H3651 had David H1732 the man H376 of God H430 commanded. 15 And they departed H5493 not H3808 from the commandment H4687 of the king H4428 unto H5921 the priests H3548 and Levites H3881 concerning any H3605 matter, H1697 or concerning the treasures. H214
16 Now all H3605 the work H4399 of Solomon H8010 was prepared H3559 unto H5704 the day H3117 of the foundation H4143 of the house H1004 of the LORD, H3068 and until H5704 it was finished. H3615 So the house H1004 of the LORD H3068 was perfected. H8003
17 Then H227 went H1980 Solomon H8010 to Ezion- H6100 geber , and to H413 Eloth, H359 at H5921 the sea H3220 side H8193 in the land H776 of Edom. H123
18 And Huram H2361 sent H7971 him by the hands H3027 of his servants H5650 ships, H591 and servants H5650 that had knowledge H3045 of the sea; H3220 and they went H935 with H5973 the servants H5650 of Solomon H8010 to Ophir, H211 and took H3947 thence H4480 H8033 four H702 hundred H3967 and fifty H2572 talents H3603 of gold, H2091 and brought H935 them to H413 king H4428 Solomon.
