Ezekiel 19:13 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 The Lord said to me, "You must sing this sad song about the leaders of Israel.
2 "'Your mother is like a female lion, lying there with the male lions. She went to lie down with the young male lions and had many babies.
3 One of her cubs gets up. He has grown to be a strong young lion. He has learned to catch his food. He killed and ate a man.
4 "'The people heard him roar, and they caught him in their trap. They put hooks in his mouth, and carried the young lion to Egypt.
5 "'The mother lion had hoped that cub would become the leader, but now she has lost all hope. So she took another of her cubs and trained him to be a lion.
6 He hunted with the adult lions and became a strong young lion. He learned to catch his food. He killed and ate a man.
7 He attacked the palaces and destroyed the cities. Everyone in that country was too afraid to speak when hearing his growl.
8 Then the people who lived around him set a trap for him, and they caught him in their trap.
9 They put hooks on him and locked him up. They had him in their trap, so they took him to the king of Babylon. And now, you cannot hear his roar on the mountains of Israel.
10 "'Your mother is like a grapevine planted near the water. She had plenty of water, so she grew many strong vines.
11 Then she grew large branches. They were like a strong walking stick. They were like a king's scepter. The vine grew taller and taller. It had many branches and reached to the clouds.
12 But the vine was pulled up by the roots, and thrown down to the ground. The hot east wind blew and dried its fruit. The strong branches broke, and they were thrown into the fire.
13 "'Now that grapevine is planted in the desert. It is a very dry and thirsty land.
14 A fire started in the large branch and spread to destroy all of its vines and fruit. So there was no strong walking stick. There was no king's scepter.' This was a sad song about death, and it was sung as a sad song about death."

4 The nations H1471 NMP also heard H8085 of H413 PREP-3MS him ; he was taken H8610 in their pit H7845 , and they brought H935 him with chains H2397 unto H413 PREP the land H776 GFS of Egypt H4714 .
5 Now when she saw H7200 W-VQQ3FS that H3588 CONJ she had waited H3176 , and her hope H8615 was lost H6 , then she took H3947 W-VQY3FS another H259 MMS of her whelps H1482 , and made H7760 him a young lion H3715 .
6 And he went up and down H1980 W-VTY3MS among H8432 B-NMS the lions H738 , he became H1961 VQQ3MS a young lion H3715 , and learned H3925 to catch H2963 the prey H2964 , and devoured H398 men H120 NMS .
7 And he knew H3045 W-VQY3MS their desolate palaces H759 , and he laid waste H2717 their cities H5892 ; and the land H776 GFS was desolate H3456 , and the fullness H4393 thereof , by the noise H6963 of his roaring H7581 .
8 Then the nations H1471 NMP set H5414 W-VQY3MP against H5921 PREP-3MS him on every side H5439 ADV from the provinces H4082 , and spread H6566 their net H7568 over H5921 PREP-3MS him : he was taken H8610 in their pit H7845 .
9 And they put H5414 him in ward H5474 in chains H2397 , and brought H935 him to H413 PREP the king H4428 NMS of Babylon H894 LFS : they brought H935 him into holds H4679 , that H4616 L-CONJ his voice H6963 should no H3808 NADV more H5750 ADV be heard H8085 upon H413 PREP the mountains H2022 CMP of Israel H3478 LMS .
10 Thy mother H517 is like a vine H1612 in thy blood H1818 , planted H8362 by H5921 PREP the waters H4325 OMD : she was H1961 VQQ3FS fruitful H6509 and full of branches H6058 by reason of many H7227 AMP waters H4325 OMD .
11 And she had H1961 W-VQY3MP strong H5797 NMS rods H4294 for H413 PREP the scepters H7626 of them that bore rule H4910 , and her stature H6967 was exalted H1361 among H5921 PREP the thick branches H5688 , and she appeared H7200 W-VNY3MS in her height H1363 with the multitude H7230 of her branches H1808 .
12 But she was plucked up H5428 in fury H2534 , she was cast down H7993 to the ground H776 LD-NFS , and the east H6921 wind H7307 W-GFS dried up H3001 her fruit H6529 : her strong H5797 rods H4294 were broken H6561 and withered H3001 ; the fire H784 CMS consumed H398 them .
13 And now H6258 W-ADV she is planted H8362 in the wilderness H4057 , in a dry H6723 NFS and thirsty H6772 ground H776 B-GFS .
14 And fire H784 CMS is gone out H3318 of a rod H4294 of her branches H905 , which hath devoured H398 her fruit H6529 , so that she hath H1961 VQQ3MS no H3808 W-NPAR strong H5797 NMS rod H4294 to be a scepter H7626 CMS to rule H4910 . This H1931 PPRO-3FS is a lamentation H7015 , and shall be H1961 W-VQY3FS for a lamentation H7015 .
