Leviticus 16:34 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 Two of Aaron's sons died while offering incense to the Lord. After that time, the Lord spoke to Moses.
2 The Lord said, "Talk to your brother Aaron. Tell him that he cannot go behind the curtain into the Most Holy Place anytime he wants to. The mercy-cover is in the room behind that curtain on top of the Holy Box, and I appear in a cloud over that mercy-cover. If Aaron goes into that room, he will die!
3 "Before Aaron enters the Most Holy Place, he will offer a bull for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering.
4 Aaron will wash his whole body with water and put on the special clothes. He will put on the linen underwear next to his body, the linen robe, the linen belt, and then he will put the linen turban on his head.
5 "From the whole community of Israel, Aaron will accept two male goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.
6 Then he will offer the bull for the sin offering. This sin offering is for himself. He will do this to purify himself and his family.
7 "Then Aaron will take the two goats and bring them before the Lord at the doorway of the Meeting Tent.
8 Aaron will throw lots for the two goats. One lot will be for the Lord. The other lot will be for Azazel.
9 "Then Aaron will offer the goat chosen by the lot for the Lord. Aaron will make this goat a sin offering.
10 But the goat chosen by the lot for Azazel will be brought alive before the Lord. Then this goat will be sent out to Azazel in the desert. This is to make the people pure.
11 "Then Aaron will offer the bull as a sin offering for himself. He will purify himself and his family. He will kill the bull for the sin offering for himself.
12 Then he will take a firepan full of coals of fire from the altar before the Lord. Aaron will take two handfuls of sweet incense that has been ground into powder and take it into the room behind the curtain.
13 He will put the incense on the fire before the Lord. Then the cloud of incense will hide the mercy-cover that is over the Box that holds the Agreement. This way Aaron will not die.
14 Aaron will dip his finger into the bull's blood and sprinkle it on the front of the Holy Box. Then he will sprinkle the blood seven times onto the front of the mercy-cover.
15 "Then Aaron will kill the goat of the sin offering for the people. He will bring this goat's blood into the room behind the curtain. He will do with the goat's blood as he did with the bull's blood. He will sprinkle the goat's blood on the mercycover and in front of it.
16 In this way Aaron will purify the Most Holy Place from all the uncleanness and sins of the Israelites. He will also purify the Meeting Tent, because it stays in the middle of unclean people.
17 "No one must be in the Meeting Tent when Aaron goes in to purify the Most Holy Place. No one is to go in there until Aaron comes out after purifying himself, his family, and all of the Israelites.
18 Then Aaron will go out to the altar that is before the Lord. Aaron will make the altar pure. He will take some of the blood from the bull and from the goat and put it on the corners of the altar on all four sides.
19 Then he will dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle it on the altar seven times. In this way Aaron will make the altar holy and clean from all the sins of the Israelites.
20 "So Aaron will make the Most Holy Place, the Meeting Tent, and the altar pure. Then he will bring the living goat to the Lord.
21 He will put both his hands on the head of the living goat. Then he will confess the sins and crimes of the Israelites over the goat. In this way Aaron will lay the people's sins on the goat's head. Then he will send the goat away into the desert. A man will be standing by, ready to lead this goat away.
22 So the goat will carry all the people's sins on itself into the empty desert. The man who leads the goat will let it loose in the desert.
23 "Then Aaron will enter the Meeting Tent. He will take off the linen clothes that he put on when he went into the Holy Place. He will leave these clothes there.
24 He will wash his whole body with water in a holy place. Then he will put on his clothes. He will come out and offer his burnt offering and the people's burnt offering. He will make himself and the people pure.
25 Then he will burn the fat of the sin offering on the altar.
26 "The man who led the goat to Azazel must wash his clothes and his whole body with water. After that he may come into the camp.
27 "The bull and the goat for the sin offerings will be taken outside the camp. (The blood from these animals was brought into the Holy Place to make {the holy things} pure.) The skins, bodies, and body waste of those animals will be burned in the fire.
28 Then the man who burns them must wash his clothes and bathe his whole body with water. After that he may come into the camp.
29 "This law will always continue for you: On the tenth day of the seventh month, you must not eat food. You must not do any work. None of the travelers or foreigners living in your land can do any work either.
30 Because on this day, the priest will do this to make you pure and wash away your sins. Then you will be clean to the Lord.
31 You must humble yourselves because this day is a very important day of rest for you. This law will continue forever.
32 "In the future, this ceremony will be done by the priest who will be anointed and appointed to serve after his father. That priest will put on the holy linen clothes
33 and make the Most Holy Place, the Meeting Tent, and the altar pure. He will also make the priests and all the people pure.
34 That law will continue forever. Once every year you will purify the Israelites from all their sins." So they did everything that the Lord had commanded Moses.

2 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , Speak H1696 VPFC unto H413 PREP Aaron H175 thy brother H251 CMS-2MS , that he come H935 VQY3MS not H408 W-NPAR at all H3605 times H6256 NMS into H413 PREP the holy H6944 place within H1004 the veil H6532 before H413 PREP the mercy seat H3727 , which H834 RPRO is upon H5921 PREP the ark H727 ; that he die H4191 VQY3MS not H3808 W-NPAR : for H3588 CONJ I will appear H7200 in the cloud H6051 BD-NMS upon H5921 PREP the mercy seat H3727 .
3 Thus H2063 shall Aaron H175 come H935 VQY3MS into H413 PREP the holy H6944 place : with a young H1121 bullock H6499 for a sin offering H2403 , and a ram H352 for a burnt offering H5930 .
4 He shall put on H3847 VQY3MS the holy H6944 linen H906 coat H3801 , and he shall have H1961 VQY3MP the linen H906 breeches H4370 upon H5921 PREP his flesh H1320 CMS-3MS , and shall be girded H2296 with a linen H906 girdle H73 , and with the linen H906 miter H4701 shall he be attired H6801 : these H1992 PPRO-3MP are holy H6944 garments H899 ; therefore shall he wash H7364 his flesh H1320 CMS-3MS in water H4325 BD-NMP , and so put them on H3847 .
5 And he shall take H3947 of the congregation H5712 CFS of the children H1121 of Israel H3478 two H8147 kids H8163 of the goats H5795 for a sin offering H2403 , and one H259 MMS ram H352 for a burnt offering H5930 .
6 And Aaron H175 shall offer H7126 his bullock H6499 of the sin offering H2403 , which H834 RPRO is for himself , and make an atonement H3722 for H1157 W-PREP himself , and for H1157 W-PREP his house H1004 CMS-3MS .
7 And he shall take H3947 W-VQQ3MS the two H8147 ONUM goats H8163 , and present H5975 them before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS at the door H6607 CMS of the tabernacle H168 NMS of the congregation H4150 .
8 And Aaron H175 shall cast H5414 W-VQQ3MS lots H1486 upon H5921 PREP the two H8147 ONUM goats H8163 ; one H259 MMS lot H1486 for the LORD H3068 L-EDS , and the other H259 MMS lot H1486 for the scapegoat H5799 .
9 And Aaron H175 shall bring H7126 the goat H8163 upon H5921 PREP-3MS which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 L-EDS \'s lot H1486 D-NMS fell H5927 , and offer H6213 him for a sin offering H2403 .
10 But the goat H8163 , on H5921 PREP-3MS which H834 RPRO the lot H1486 D-NMS fell H5927 to be the scapegoat H5799 , shall be presented H5975 alive H2416 AMS before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS , to make an atonement H3722 with H5921 PREP-3MS him , and to let him go H7971 for a scapegoat H5799 into the wilderness H4057 .
11 And Aaron H175 shall bring H7126 the bullock H6499 of the sin offering H2403 , which H834 RPRO is for himself , and shall make an atonement H3722 for H1157 W-PREP himself , and for H1157 W-PREP his house H1004 NMS-3MS , and shall kill H7819 the bullock H6499 of the sin offering H2403 which H834 RPRO is for himself :
12 And he shall take H3947 W-VQQ3MS a censer H4289 full H4393 of burning coals H1513 of fire H784 CMS from off H5921 M-PREP the altar H4196 D-NMS before H6440 ML-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS , and his hands H2651 full H4393 of sweet H5561 incense H7004 beaten small H1851 , and bring H935 it within H1004 the veil H6532 :
13 And he shall put H5414 W-VQQ3MS the incense H7004 upon H5921 PREP the fire H784 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS , that the cloud H6051 CMS of the incense H7004 may cover H3680 the mercy seat H3727 that H834 RPRO is upon H5921 PREP the testimony H5715 , that he die H4191 not H3808 W-NPAR :
14 And he shall take H3947 W-VQQ3MS of the blood H1818 of the bullock H6499 , and sprinkle H5137 it with his finger H676 upon H5921 PREP the mercy seat H3727 eastward H6924 ; and before H6440 CMP the mercy seat H3727 shall he sprinkle H5137 of H4480 PREP the blood H1818 with his finger H676 seven H7651 times H6471 NFP .
15 Then shall he kill H7819 the goat H8163 of the sin offering H2403 , that H834 RPRO is for the people H5971 , and bring H935 his blood H1818 CMS-3MS within H413 PREP the veil H6532 , and do H6213 W-VQQ3MS with H854 PREP that blood H1818 CMS-3MS as H834 RPRO he did H6213 W-VQQ3MS with the blood H1818 of the bullock H6499 , and sprinkle H5137 it upon H5921 PREP the mercy seat H3727 , and before H6440 WL-CMP the mercy seat H3727 :
16 And he shall make an atonement H3722 for H5921 PREP the holy H6944 place , because of the uncleanness H2932 of the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , and because of their transgressions H6588 in all H3605 L-CMS their sins H2403 : and so H3651 shall he do H6213 VQY3MS for the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 NMS , that remaineth H7931 among H854 PREP-3MP them in the midst H8432 B-NMS of their uncleanness H2932 .
17 And there shall be H1961 VQY3MS no H3808 NADV man H120 NMS in the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 NMS when he goeth in H935 to make an atonement H3722 in the holy H6944 place , until H5704 PREP he come out H3318 , and have made an atonement H3722 for H1157 W-PREP himself , and for H1157 W-PREP his household H1004 NMS-3MS , and for H1157 W-PREP all H3605 NMS the congregation H6951 of Israel H3478 LMS .
18 And he shall go out H3318 unto H413 PREP the altar H4196 D-NMS that H834 RPRO is before H6440 the LORD H3068 EDS , and make an atonement H3722 for H5921 PREP-3MS it ; and shall take H3947 W-VQQ3MS of the blood H1818 of the bullock H6499 , and of the blood H1818 of the goat H8163 , and put H5414 W-VQQ3MS it upon H5921 PREP-3MS the horns H7161 of the altar H4196 D-NMS round about H5439 .
19 And he shall sprinkle H5137 of H4480 PREP the blood H1818 upon H5921 PREP-3MS it with his finger H676 seven H7651 MFS times H6471 NFP , and cleanse H2891 it , and hallow H6942 it from the uncleanness H2932 of the children H1121 of Israel H3478 LMS .
20 And when he hath made an end H3615 of reconciling H3722 the holy H6944 place , and the tabernacle H168 NMS of the congregation H4150 NMS , and the altar H4196 D-NMS , he shall bring H7126 the live H2416 goat H8163 :
21 And Aaron H175 shall lay H5564 both H8147 ONUM his hands H3027 upon H5921 PREP the head H7218 NMS of the live H2416 goat H8163 , and confess H3034 over H5921 PREP him all H3605 NMS the iniquities H5771 of the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , and all H3605 NMS their transgressions H6588 in all H3605 NMS their sins H2403 , putting H5414 W-VQQ3MS them upon H5921 PREP the head H7218 NMS of the goat H8163 , and shall send him away H7971 by the hand H3027 B-CFS of a fit H6261 man H376 NMS into the wilderness H4057 :
22 And the goat H8163 shall bear H5375 upon H5921 PREP-3MS him all H3605 NMS their iniquities H5771 unto H413 PREP a land H776 GFS not inhabited H1509 : and he shall let go H7971 the goat H8163 in the wilderness H4057 .
23 And Aaron H175 shall come H935 into H413 PREP the tabernacle H168 NMS of the congregation H4150 NMS , and shall put off H6584 the linen H906 garments H899 , which H834 RPRO he put on H3847 VQQ3MS when he went H935 into H413 PREP the holy H6944 place , and shall leave H5117 them there H8033 ADV :
24 And he shall wash H7364 his flesh H1320 CMS-3MS with water H4325 in the holy H6918 place H4725 , and put on his garments H899 , and come forth H3318 , and offer H6213 W-VQQ3MS his burnt offering H5930 , and the burnt offering H5930 of the people H5971 , and make an atonement H3722 for H1157 W-PREP himself , and for H1157 W-PREP the people H5971 D-NMS .
25 And the fat H2459 of the sin offering H2403 shall he burn H6999 upon the altar H4196 .
26 And he that let go H7971 the goat H8163 for the scapegoat H5799 shall wash H3526 his clothes H899 , and bathe H7364 his flesh H1320 CMS-3MS in water H4325 , and afterward H310 come H935 VQY3MS into H413 PREP the camp H4264 .
27 And the bullock H6499 for the sin offering H2403 , and the goat H8163 for the sin offering H2403 , whose H834 RPRO blood H1818 was brought in H935 to make atonement H3722 in the holy H6944 place , shall one carry forth H3318 without H413 PREP the camp H4264 ; and they shall burn H8313 in the fire H784 their skins H5785 , and their flesh H1320 , and their dung H6569 .
28 And he that burneth H8313 them shall wash H3526 his clothes H899 , and bathe H7364 his flesh H1320 CMS-3MS in water H4325 , and afterward H310 he shall come H935 VQY3MS into H413 PREP the camp H4264 .
29 And this shall be H1961 W-VQQ3FS a statute H2708 forever H5769 NMS unto you : that in the seventh H7637 D-ONUM month H2320 BD-NMS , on the tenth H6218 day of the month H2320 LD-NMS , ye shall afflict H6031 your souls H5315 , and do H6213 no H3808 NADV work H4399 at all H3605 W-CMS , whether it be one of your own country H249 , or a stranger H1616 that sojourneth H1481 among H8432 you :
30 For H3588 CONJ on that H2088 D-PMS day H3117 shall the priest make an atonement H3722 for H5921 PREP-2MP you , to cleanse H2891 you , that ye may be clean H2891 from all H3605 M-CMS your sins H2403 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS .
31 It H1931 PPRO-3FS shall be a sabbath H7676 of rest H7677 unto you , and ye shall afflict H6031 your souls H5315 , by a statute H2708 forever H5769 NMS .
32 And the priest H3548 , whom H834 RPRO he shall anoint H4886 , and whom H834 RPRO he shall consecrate H4390 to minister in the priest\'s office H3547 in his father\'s stead H8478 NMS , shall make the atonement H3722 , and shall put on the linen H906 clothes H899 , even the holy H6944 garments H899 :
33 And he shall make an atonement H3722 for the holy H6944 sanctuary H4720 , and he shall make an atonement H3722 for the tabernacle H168 NMS of the congregation H4150 NMS , and for the altar H4196 D-NMS , and he shall make an atonement H3722 for H5921 W-PREP the priests H3548 , and for H5921 W-PREP all H3605 NMS the people H5971 NMS of the congregation H6951 .
34 And this H2063 DPRO-3FS shall be H1961 W-VQQ3FS an everlasting H5769 NMS statute H2708 unto you , to make an atonement H3722 for H5921 PREP the children H1121 of Israel H3478 for all H3605 M-CMS their sins H2403 once H259 OFS a year H8141 . And he did H6213 W-VQY3MS as H834 K-RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS commanded H6680 VPQ3MS Moses H4872 .
