Job 36:16 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 Elihu continued talking and said,
2 "Be patient with me a little longer. God has a few more words that he wants me to say.
3 I will share my knowledge with everyone. I will prove that my Maker is right.
4 Job, I am telling the truth. I know what I am talking about.
5 "God is very powerful, but he does not hate people. He is very powerful, but he is also very wise.
6 He will not let evil people live. He brings justice to the poor.
7 He watches over those who live right. He lets them rule in high places.
8 So if people are punished, if they are tied with chains and ropes, they did something wrong.
9 And God will tell them what they did, that they sinned and were proud.
10 He will force them to listen to his warning. He will command them to stop sinning.
11 If they serve and obey him, he will make them successful and they will live a happy life.
12 But if they refuse to obey him, they will be destroyed. They will die like fools.
13 "People who don't care about God are always bitter. Even when he punishes them, they refuse to pray to him for help.
14 They will die while they are still young, like the male prostitutes.
15 God saves those who suffer by using their suffering. He uses their troubles to speak in a way that makes them listen.
16 "In fact, God wants to help you out of your troubles. He wants to take away your burdens that are crushing you. He wants to load your table with plenty of food.
17 But you are full of this talk about guilt, judgment, and justice!
18 Job, don't let your anger fill you with doubt about God. And don't let the price of forgiveness turn you away.
19 Do you think your wealth will keep you out of trouble? Will your great strength be of any help to you now?
20 Don't be like those who wish darkness would come and hide them. They try to disappear into the night.
21 Job, don't let your suffering cause you to choose evil. Be careful not to do wrong.
22 "Look, God's power makes him great! He is the greatest teacher of all.
23 No one can tell him what to do. No one can say, 'God, you have done wrong.'
24 Remember to praise him for what he has done, as many others have done in song.
25 Everyone can see what he has done, even people in faraway countries.
26 Yes, God is great, but we cannot understand his greatness. We don't know how long he has lived.
27 "God takes up water from the earth and changes it into mist and rain.
28 So the clouds pour out the water, and the rain falls on many people.
29 No one can understand how he spreads the clouds out or how the thunder rumbles from his home in the sky.
30 Look, he spreads lightning all over the sky and covers the deepest part of the ocean.
31 He uses them to control the nations and to give them plenty of food.
32 He grabs the lightning with his hands, and commands it to strike where he wants.
33 The thunder warns that a storm is coming. So even the cattle know it is near.

3 I will fetch H5375 VQY1MS my knowledge H1843 CMS-1MS from afar H7350 LM-AMS , and will ascribe H5414 VQY1MS righteousness H6664 NMS to my Maker H6466 WL-VQCMS-1MS .
4 For H3588 CONJ truly H551 CONJ my words H4405 CFP-1MS shall not H3808 NADV be false H8267 NMS : he that is perfect H8549 JMS in knowledge H1844 NFP is with H5973 PREP-2FS thee .
5 Behold H2005 PART , God H410 EDS is mighty H3524 AMS , and despiseth H3988 VQY3MS not H3808 W-NPAR any : he is mighty H3524 AMS in strength H3581 CMS and wisdom H3820 NMS .
6 He preserveth not the life H2421 VPY3MS of the wicked H7563 AMS : but giveth H5414 VQY3MS right H4941 W-CMS to the poor H6041 AMP .
7 He withdraweth H1639 VQY3MS not H3808 ADV his eyes H5869 CMD-3MS from the righteous H6662 M-AMS : but with H854 W-PART kings H4428 NMP are they on the throne H3678 LD-NMS ; yea , he doth establish H3427 W-VHY3MS-3MP them forever H5331 L-NMS , and they are exalted H1361 W-VQY3MP .
8 And if H518 W-PART they be bound H631 VWPMP in fetters H2131 BD-NMP , and be holden H3920 VNY3MP-3FP in cords H2256 B-CMP of affliction H6040 NMS ;
9 Then he showeth H5046 W-VHY3MS them their work H6467 CMS-3MP , and their transgressions H6588 W-CMP-3MP that H3588 CONJ they have exceeded H1396 VTY3MP .
10 He openeth H1540 W-VQY3MS also their ear H241 CFS-3MP to discipline H4148 LD-NMS , and commandeth H559 W-VQY3MS that H3588 CONJ they return H7725 VQY3MP-3FP from iniquity H205 M-NMS .
11 If H518 PART they obey H8085 VQY3MP and serve H5647 W-VQY3MP him , they shall spend H3615 VPY3MP their days H3117 CMP-3MP in prosperity H2896 BD-NMS , and their years H8141 W-CFS-3MP in pleasures H5273 BD-AMP .
12 But if H518 W-PART they obey H8085 VQY3MP not H3808 NADV , they shall perish H5674 VQY3MP by the sword H7973 B-NMS , and they shall die H1478 W-VQY3MP without H1097 K-ADV knowledge H1847 NFS .
13 But the hypocrites H2611 W-CMP in heart H3820 NMS heap up H7760 VQY3MP wrath H639 NMS : they cry H7768 VPY3MP not H3808 NADV when H3588 CONJ he bindeth H631 VQQ3MS-3MP them .
14 They H5315 CFS-3MP die H4191 VQI3FS in youth H5290 BD-NMS , and their life H2416 W-CFS-3MP is among the unclean H6945 BD-AMP .
15 He delivereth H2502 VPY3MS the poor H6041 AMS in his affliction H6040 B-CMS-3MS , and openeth H1540 W-VQI3MS their ears H241 CFS-3MP in oppression H3906 BD-NMS .
16 Even so H637 W-CONJ would he have removed H5496 VHQ3MS-2MS thee out of the strait H6310 M-CMS into a broad place H7338 NMS , where H8478 CMP-3FS there is no H3808 NADV straitness H4164 NMS ; and that which should be set H5183 W-NFS on thy table H7979 CMS-2MS should be full H4390 VQQ3MS of fatness H1880 NMS .
17 But thou hast fulfilled H4390 VQQ2MS the judgment H1779 W-NMS of the wicked H7563 AMS : judgment H1779 NMS and justice H4941 W-NMS take hold H8551 VQY3MP on thee .
18 Because H3588 CONJ there is wrath H2534 NFS , beware lest H6435 CONJ he take thee away H5496 VHY3MS-2MS with his stroke H5607 B-NMS : then a great H7227 W-CMS ransom H3724 NMS cannot H408 NPAR deliver H5186 VHY3MS-2MS thee .
19 Will he esteem H6186 I-VQY3MS thy riches H7769 CMS-2MS ? no , not H3808 NADV gold H1222 B-AMS , nor all H3605 W-CMS the forces H3981 CMP of strength H3581 NMS .
20 Desire H7602 VQY2MS not H408 NPAR the night H3915 AMS , when people H5971 NMP are cut off H5927 L-VQFC in their place H8478 PREP-3MP .
21 Take heed H8104 VNI2MS , regard not H6437 VQI3MS iniquity H205 NMS : for PREP this H2088 DPRO hast thou chosen H977 VQQ2MS rather than affliction H6040 M-NMS .
22 Behold H2005 PART , God H410 EDS exalteth H7682 VHY3MS by his power H3581 B-CMS-3MS : who H4310 IPRO teacheth H3384 NMS like him H3644 PREP-3MS ?
23 Who H4310 IPRO hath enjoined H6485 VQQ3MS him his way H1870 CMS-3MS ? or who H4310 W-IGAT can say H559 VQQ3MS , Thou hast wrought H6466 VQQ2MS iniquity H5766 NFS ?
24 Remember H2142 VQI2MS that H3588 CONJ thou magnify H7679 VHY2MS his work H6467 CMS-3MS , which H834 RPRO men H376 NMP behold H7789 .
25 Every H3605 NMS man H120 NMS may see H2372 VQQ3MP it ; man H582 NMS may behold H5027 VHY3MS it afar off H7350 M-AMS .
26 Behold H2005 PART , God H410 EDS is great H7689 AMS , and we know H3045 VQY1MP him not H3808 W-NPAR neither H3808 W-NPAR can the number H4557 CMS of his years H8141 CFP-3MS be searched out H2714 NMS .
27 For H3588 CONJ he maketh small H1639 VPY3MS the drops H5198 CMP of water H4325 NMD : they pour down H2212 VQY3MP rain H4306 NMS according to the vapor H108 L-CMS-3MS thereof :
28 Which H834 RPRO the clouds H7834 NMP do drop H5140 VQY3MP and distill H7491 VQY3MP upon H5921 PREP man H120 NMS abundantly H7227 AMS .
29 Also H518 PART can any understand H995 VQY3MS the spreadings H4666 CMP of the clouds H5645 NCS , or the noise H8663 CFP of his tabernacle H5521 CFS-3MS ?
30 Behold H2005 IJEC , he spreadeth H6566 VQQ3MS his light H216 CMS-3MS upon H5921 PREP-3MS it , and covereth H3680 VPQ3MS the bottom H8328 W-CMP of the sea H3220 D-NMS .
31 For H3588 CONJ by them judgeth H1777 VQY3MS he the people H5971 NMP ; he giveth H5414 VQY3MS meat H400 NMS in abundance H4342 L-VHPMS .
32 With H5921 PREP clouds H3709 NFD he covereth H3680 VPQ3MS the light H216 NMS ; and commandeth H6680 W-VPY3MS it not to shine by H5921 PREP the cloud that cometh between H6293 B-VHPMS .
33 The noise H7452 CMS-3MS thereof showeth H5046 VHY3MS concerning H5921 PREP-3MS it , the cattle H4735 NMS also H637 CONJ concerning H5921 PREP-3MS the vapor H5927 VQPMS .
