Isaiah 66:4 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 This is what the Lord says: "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is where I rest my feet. So do you think you can build a house for me? Do I need a place to rest?
2 I am the one who made all things. They are all here because I made them," says the Lord. "These are the people I care for: the poor, humble people who obey my commands.
3 Some people kill bulls as a sacrifice, but they also beat people. They kill sheep as a sacrifice, but they also break the necks of dogs. They offer up grain offerings, but they also offer the blood of pigs. They burn incense, but they also love their disgusting idols. They choose their own ways, and they love their terrible idols.
4 So I decided to use their own tricks. I will punish them using what they are most afraid of. I will do this because I called to them, but they did not answer. I spoke to them, but they did not listen. They did what I said is evil. They chose to do what I did not like."
5 You who obey the Lord's commands, listen to what he says: "Your brothers hated you. They turned against you because you followed me. Your brothers said, 'When the Lord shows his glory, then we will rejoice with you.' But they will be punished."
6 Listen! There is a loud noise coming from the city and from the Temple. It is the Lord punishing his enemies. He is giving them the punishment they deserve.
7 "A woman does not give birth before she feels the pain. A woman must feel the pain of childbirth before she can see the boy she gives birth to. Who ever heard of such a thing? In the same way, no one ever saw a new world begin in one day. No one has ever heard of a new nation that began in one day. But when Zion feels the pain, she will give birth to her children.

9 In the same way, I will not cause pain without allowing something new to be born." The Lord says this: "I promise that if I cause you the pain of birth, I will not stop you from having your new nation." Your God said this.
10 Jerusalem and all her friends, be happy! All of you who were sad for her, be happy and rejoice with her!
11 Be happy that you will receive mercy like milk coming from her breast. Jerusalem's "milk" will satisfy you! You will fully enjoy her glory.
12 This is what the Lord says: "Look, I will give Jerusalem peace that will flow in like a river. Wealth from all the nations will come flowing into her like a flood. And like little babies, you will drink that 'milk.' I will hold you in my arms and bounce you on my knees.
13 I will comfort you like a mother comforting her child. You will be comforted in Jerusalem."
14 When you see these things, you will be happy. You will be free and grow like grass. The Lord's servants will see his power, but his enemies will see his anger.
15 Look, the Lord is coming with fire. His armies are coming with clouds of dust. He is angry, and he will punish his enemies with flames.
16 The Lord will judge the people. Then he will destroy many people with his sword and with fire.
17 These are the people who wash themselves and make themselves pure so that they can go into their special gardens to worship their idols. They follow one another into the gardens to eat meat from pigs, rats, and other dirty things. But they will all be destroyed together.
18 "They have evil thoughts and do evil things, so I am coming to punish them. I will gather all nations and all people. Everyone will be gathered together to see my Glory.
19 I will put a mark on some of the people. I will send some of these saved people to the nations of Tarshish, Libya, Lud (the land of archers ), Tubal, Greece, and all the faraway lands. Those people have never heard my teachings. They have never seen my Glory. So the saved people will tell the nations about my glory.
20 And they will bring all your brothers and sisters from those other nations to my holy mountain, Jerusalem. Your brothers and sisters will ride on horses, mules, camels, and in chariots and wagons. They will be like the gifts that the Israelites bring on clean plates to the Temple of the Lord.
21 I will also choose some of these people to be priests and Levites. " The Lord himself said this.
22 "I will make a new world, new heavens and a new earth, that will last for ever. In the same way, your names and your children will always be with me.
23 Everyone will come to worship me on every worship day; they will come every Sabbath and every first day of the month.
24 "Whoever goes out of the city will see the dead bodies of those who sinned against me. The worms eating those bodies will never die, and the fires burning them will never go out. It will be horrible to anyone who sees it."

2 For all H3605 NMS those H428 PMP things hath mine hand H3027 CFS-1MS made H6213 , and all H3605 NMS those H428 PMP things have been H1961 W-VQY3MP , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 EDS : but to H413 PREP this H2088 DPRO man will I look H5027 , even to H413 PREP him that is poor H6041 AMS and of a contrite H5223 spirit H7307 NFS , and trembleth H2730 at H5921 PREP my word H1697 .
3 He that killeth H7819 an ox H7794 is as if he slew H5221 a man H376 NMS ; he that sacrificeth H2076 a lamb H7716 , as if he cut off a dog\'s neck H6202 ; he that offereth H5927 an oblation H4503 NFS , as if he offered swine H2386 \'s blood H1818 CMS ; he that burneth H2142 incense H3828 , as if he blessed H1288 an idol H205 NMS . Yea H1571 CONJ , they H1992 PPRO-3MP have chosen H977 their own ways H1870 , and their soul H5315 CFS-3MP delighteth H2654 in their abominations H8251 .
4 I H589 PPRO-1MS also H1571 CONJ will choose H977 their delusions H8586 , and will bring H935 their fears H4035 upon them ; because H3282 ADV when I called H7121 VQQ1CS , none H369 W-NPAR did answer H6030 VQPMS ; when I spoke H1696 VPQ1MS , they did not H3808 W-NPAR hear H8085 : but they did H6213 W-VQY3MP evil H7451 before mine eyes H5869 , and chose H977 VQQ3MP that in which H834 WB-RPRO I delighted H2654 VQQ1MS not H3808 W-NPAR .
5 Hear H8085 VQI2MP the word H1697 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS , ye that tremble H2730 at H413 PREP his word H1697 ; Your brethren H251 that hated H8130 you , that cast you out H5077 for my name\'s sake H4616 L-CONJ , said H559 VQQ3MP , Let the LORD H3068 EDS be glorified H3513 : but he shall appear H7200 to your joy H8057 , and they H1992 W-PPRO-3MP shall be ashamed H954 .
6 A voice H6963 CMS of noise H7588 from the city H5892 M-NFS , a voice H6963 CMS from the temple H1964 , a voice H6963 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS that rendereth H7999 recompense H1576 to his enemies H341 .
7 Before H2962 B-ADV she travailed H2342 , she brought forth H3205 ; before H2962 B-ADV her pain H2256 came H935 VQY3MS , she was delivered H4422 of a man child H2145 .
8 Who H4310 IPRO hath heard H8085 such a thing H2063 ? who H4310 IPRO hath seen H7200 VQQ3MS such things H428 ? Shall the earth H776 GFS be made to bring forth H2342 in one H259 MMS day H3117 B-NMS ? or shall a nation H1471 NMS be born H3205 VNY3MS at once H259 MFS ? for H3588 CONJ as soon H1571 CONJ as Zion H6726 travailed H2342 , she brought forth her children H1121 .
9 Shall I H589 PPRO-1MS bring to the birth H7665 , and not H3808 W-NPAR cause to bring forth H3205 ? saith H559 VQY3MS the LORD H3068 EDS : shall I H589 PPRO-1MS cause to bring forth H3205 , and shut H6113 the womb ? saith H559 VQQ3MS thy God H430 .
10 Rejoice H8055 ye with H854 PREP Jerusalem H3389 , and be glad H1523 with her , all H3605 NMS ye that love H157 her : rejoice H7797 for joy H4885 with H854 her , all H3605 NMS ye that mourn H56 for H5921 her :
11 That H4616 L-CONJ ye may suck H3243 , and be satisfied H7646 with the breasts H7699 M-NMS of her consolations H8575 ; that H4616 L-CONJ ye may milk out H4711 , and be delighted H6026 with the abundance H2123 of her glory H3519 .
12 For H3588 CONJ thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 EDS , Behold H2009 , I will extend H5186 peace H7965 NMS to H413 PREP-3FS her like a river H5104 , and the glory H3519 of the Gentiles H1471 NMP like a flowing H7857 stream H5158 : then shall ye suck H3243 , ye shall be borne H5375 upon H5921 PREP her sides H6654 , and be dandled H8173 upon H5921 PREP her knees H1290 .
13 As one H376 whom H834 RPRO his mother H517 GFS-3MS comforteth H5162 , so H3651 ADV will I H595 PPRO-1MS comfort H5162 you ; and ye shall be comforted H5162 in Jerusalem H3389 .

17 They that sanctify themselves H6942 , and purify themselves H2891 in H413 PREP the gardens H1593 behind H310 ADV one H259 tree in the midst H8432 , eating H398 swine H2386 \'s flesh H1320 CMS , and the abomination H8263 , and the mouse H5909 , shall be consumed H5486 together H3162 ADV-3MS , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
18 For I H595 W-PPRO-1MS know their works H4639 CMP-3MP and their thoughts H4284 : it shall come H935 VQQ3FS , that I will gather H6908 all H3605 NMS nations H1471 D-NMP and tongues H3956 ; and they shall come H935 , and see H7200 my glory H3519 .
19 And I will set H7760 W-VQQ1MS a sign H226 NMS among them , and I will send H7971 those that escape H6412 of them H4480 unto H413 PREP the nations H1471 D-NMP , to Tarshish H8659 , Pul H6322 , and Lud H3865 W-EMS , that draw H4900 the bow H7198 CFS , to Tubal H8422 , and Javan H3120 W-EMS , to the isles H339 afar off H7350 , that H834 RPRO have not H3808 NADV heard H8085 VQQ3MP my fame H8088 , neither H3808 W-NADV have seen H7200 VQQ3MP my glory H3519 CMS-1MS ; and they shall declare H5046 my glory H3519 CMS-1MS among the Gentiles H1471 .
20 And they shall bring H935 all H3605 NMS your brethren H251 for an offering H4503 NFS unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS out of all H3605 NMS nations H1471 D-NMP upon horses H5483 , and in chariots H7393 , and in litters H6632 , and upon mules H6505 , and upon swift beasts H3753 , to H5921 PREP my holy H6944 mountain H2022 CMS Jerusalem H3389 , saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 EDS , as H834 K-RPRO the children H1121 CMP of Israel H3478 bring H935 an offering H4503 in a clean H2889 AMS vessel H3627 into the house H1004 CMS of the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
21 And I will also H1571 W-CONJ take H3947 VQY1MS of H4480 them for priests H3548 and for Levites H3881 , saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
22 For H3588 CONJ as H834 RPRO the new H2319 heavens H8064 D-NMD and the new H2319 earth H776 WD-GFS , which H834 RPRO I H589 PPRO-1MS will make H6213 VQPMS , shall remain H5975 VQPMP before H6440 L-CMP me , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 EDS , so H3651 ADV shall your seed H2233 CMS-2MP and your name H8034 remain H5975 VQPMP .
23 And it shall come to pass H1961 W-VQQ3MS , that from one new moon H2320 to another H2320 , and from one sabbath H7676 to another H7676 , shall all H3605 CMS flesh H1320 NMS come H935 VQY3MS to worship H7812 before H6440 L-CMP me , saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
24 And they shall go forth H3318 , and look H7200 upon the carcasses H6297 of the men H376 D-NMP that have transgressed H6586 against me : for H3588 CONJ their worm H8438 shall not H3808 NADV die H4191 , neither H3808 NADV shall their fire H784 be quenched H3518 ; and they shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS an abhorring H1860 unto all H3605 L-CMS flesh H1320 NMS .
