Ezekiel 8:13 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 One day I, Ezekiel, was sitting in my house, and the elders of Judah were sitting there in front of me. This was on the fifth day of the sixth month of the sixth year of exile. Suddenly, the power of the Lord God came on me.
2 I saw something that looked like fire, like a man's body. From the waist down, he was like fire. From the waist up, he was bright and shining like hot metal in a fire.
3 Then I saw something that looked like an arm. The arm reached out and grabbed me by the hair on my head. Then the Spirit lifted me into the air, and in God's vision, he took me to Jerusalem. He took me to the inner gate—the gate that is on the north side. The statue that makes God jealous is by that gate.
4 But the Glory of the God of Israel was there. The Glory looked just like the vision I saw in the valley {by the Kebar Canal}.
5 God spoke to me. He said, "Son of man, look toward the north." So I looked, and there, north of the Altar Gate by the entrance, was that statue that made God jealous.
6 Then God said to me, "Son of man, do you see what terrible things the people of Israel are doing? They built that thing here, right next to my Temple! And if you come with me, you will see even more terrible things!"
7 So I went to the entrance to the courtyard, and I saw a hole in the wall.
8 God said to me, "Son of man, make a hole in the wall." So I made a hole in the wall, and there I saw a door.
9 Then God said to me, "Go in and look at the terrible, evil things that the people are doing here."
10 So I went in and looked. I saw statues of all kinds of reptiles and animals that you hate to think about. The statues were the filthy idols that the people of Israel worshiped. There were pictures of those animals carved all around on every wall!
11 Then I noticed that Jaazaniah son of Shapham and the 70 elders of Israel were there with the people worshiping in that place. There they were, right at the front of the people, and each leader had his own incense dish in his hand. The smoke from the burning incense was rising into the air.
12 Then God said to me, "Son of man, do you see what the elders of Israel do in the dark? Each man has a special room for his own false god. They say to themselves, 'The Lord cannot see us. The Lord left this country.'"
13 Then he said to me, "If you come with me, you will see these men doing even more terrible things!"
14 Then God led me to the entrance to the Lord's Temple. This gate was on the north side. I saw women sitting there and crying. They were sad about the false god Tammuz!
15 God said to me, "Son of man, do you see these terrible things? Come with me and you will see things that are even worse than this!"
16 Then he led me to the inner courtyard of the Lord's Temple. There I saw 25 men bowing down and worshiping. They were between the porch and the altar—but they were facing the wrong way. Their backs were to the Holy Place. They were bowing down to worship the sun!
17 Then God said, "Son of man, do you see this? The people of Judah think my Temple is so unimportant that they will do these terrible things here in my Temple! This country is filled with violence, and they constantly do things to make me angry. Look, they are wearing rings in their noses to honor the moon like a false god!
18 I will show them my anger! I will not show them any mercy or feel sorry for them! They will shout to me—but I refuse to listen to them!"
1 And it came to pass H1961 W-VQY3MS in the sixth H8345 year H8141 , in the sixth H8345 month , in the fifth H2568 day of the month H2320 LD-NMS , as I H589 PPRO-1MS sat H3427 VQPMS in mine house H1004 , and the elders H2205 of Judah H3063 sat H3427 before H6440 me , that the hand H3027 CFS of the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 fell H5307 W-VQY3FS there H8033 ADV upon H5921 PREP-1MS me .
2 Then I beheld H7200 , and lo H2009 IJEC a likeness H1823 as the appearance H4758 of fire H784 CMS : from the appearance H4758 of his loins H4975 even downward H4295 , fire H784 CMS ; and from his loins H4975 even upward H4605 , as the appearance H4758 of brightness H2096 , as the color H5869 of amber H2830 .
3 And he put forth H7971 W-VQY3MS the form H8403 of a hand H3027 NFS , and took H3947 me by a lock H6734 of mine head H7218 CMS-1MS ; and the spirit H7307 NFS lifted me up H5375 between H996 W-PREP the earth H776 D-GFS and the heaven H8064 D-NMD , and brought H935 me in the visions H4759 of God H430 EDP to Jerusalem H3389 , to H413 PREP the door H6607 CMS of the inner H6442 gate H8179 NMS that looketh H6437 toward the north H6828 ; where H834 RPRO was the seat H4186 of the image H5566 of jealousy H7068 , which provoketh to jealousy H7065 .
4 And , behold H2009 IJEC , the glory H3519 of the God H430 CDP of Israel H3478 was there H8033 ADV , according to the vision H4758 that H834 RPRO I saw H7200 VQQ1MS in the plain H1237 .
5 Then said H559 W-VQY3MS he unto H413 PREP-1MS me , Son H1121 of man H120 NMS , lift up H5375 VQI2MS thine eyes H5869 CMD-2MS now H4994 IJEC the way H1870 NMS toward the north H6828 . So I lifted up H5375 mine eyes H5869 CMD-1MS the way H1870 NMS toward the north H6828 , and behold H2009 IJEC northward H6828 M-NFS at the gate H8179 of the altar H4196 D-NMS this H2088 D-PMS image H5566 of jealousy H7068 in the entry H872 .
6 He said H559 W-VQY3MS furthermore unto H413 PREP-1MS me , Son H1121 of man H120 NMS , seest H7200 thou H859 PPRO-2MS what H4100 they H1992 do H6213 ? even the great H1419 abominations H8441 that H834 RPRO the house H1004 of Israel H3478 committeth H6213 here H6311 ADV , that I should go far off H7368 from M-PREP my sanctuary H4720 ? but turn thee yet again H7725 VQY2MS , and thou shalt see H7200 greater H1419 abominations H8441 .
7 And he brought H935 W-VHY3MS me to H413 PREP the door H6607 CMS of the court H2691 ; and when I looked H7200 , behold H2009 IJEC a H259 MMS hole H2356 in the wall H7023 .
8 Then said H559 W-VQY3MS he unto H413 PREP-1MS me , Son H1121 of man H120 NMS , dig H2864 now H4994 IJEC in the wall H7023 : and when I had digged H2864 in the wall H7023 , behold H2009 IJEC a H259 ONUM door H6607 CMS .
9 And he said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 me , Go in H935 , and behold H7200 W-VQI2MS the wicked H7451 abominations H8441 that H834 RPRO they H1992 PPRO-3MP do H6213 here H6311 .
10 So I went in H935 and saw H7200 ; and behold H2009 IJEC every H3605 CMS form H8403 of creeping things H7431 CMS , and abominable H8263 beasts H929 W-NFS , and all H3605 W-CMS the idols H1544 of the house H1004 CMS of Israel H3478 , portrayed H2707 upon H5921 PREP the wall H7023 round about H5439 ADV .
11 And there stood H5975 VQPMP before H6440 L-CMP-3MP them seventy H7657 W-MMP men H376 NMS of the ancients H2205 of the house H1004 of Israel H3478 , and in the midst H8432 of them stood H5975 VQPMP Jaazaniah H2970 the son H1121 CMS of Shaphan H8227 , with every man H376 NMS his censer H4730 in his hand H3027 B-CFS-3MS ; and a thick H6282 cloud H6051 of incense H7004 went up H5927 .
12 Then said H559 W-VQY3MS he unto H413 PREP-1MS me , Son H1121 CMS of man H120 NMS , hast thou seen H7200 what H834 RPRO the ancients H2205 of the house H1004 of Israel H3478 do H6213 in the dark H2822 BD-NMS , every man H376 NMS in the chambers H2315 of his imagery H4906 ? for H3588 CONJ they say H559 W-VQY3MS , The LORD H3068 EDS seeth H7200 VQPMS us not H369 NPAR ; the LORD H3068 EDS hath forsaken H5800 VQQ3MS the earth H776 D-GFS .
13 He said H559 W-VQY3MS also unto H413 me , Turn thee yet again H7725 VQY2MS , and thou shalt see H7200 greater H1419 abominations H8441 that H834 RPRO they H1992 PPRO-3MP do H6213 .
14 Then he brought H935 W-VHY3MS me to H413 PREP the door H6607 CMS of the gate H8179 NMS of the LORD H3068 EDS \'s house H1004 CMS which H834 RPRO was toward H413 PREP the north H6828 ; and , behold H2009 IJEC , there H8033 ADV sat H3427 women H802 D-NFP weeping H1058 for H854 Tammuz H8542 .
15 Then said H559 W-VQY3MS he unto H413 PREP-1MS me , Hast thou seen H7200 this , O son H1121 CMS of man H120 NMS ? turn thee yet again H7725 VQY2MS , and thou shalt see H7200 greater H1419 abominations H8441 than these H428 .
16 And he brought H935 W-VHY3MS me into H413 PREP the inner H6442 court H2691 of the LORD H3068 EDS \'s house H1004 CMS , and , behold H2009 IJEC , at the door H6607 of the temple H1964 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS , between H996 PREP the porch H197 and the altar H4196 D-NMS , were about five H2568 and twenty H6242 men H376 NMS , with their backs H268 toward H413 PREP the temple H1964 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS , and their faces H6440 W-CMP-3MP toward the east H6924 ; and they H1992 worshiped H7812 the sun H8121 toward the east H6924 .
17 Then he said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP me , Hast thou seen H7200 this , O son H1121 CMS of man H120 NMS ? Is it a light thing H7043 to the house H1004 of Judah H3063 that they commit H6213 the abominations H8441 which H834 RPRO they commit H6213 here H6311 ? for H3588 CONJ they have filled H4390 VQQ3MP the land H776 D-GFS with violence H2555 AMS , and have returned H7725 W-VUY3MP to provoke me to anger H3707 : and , lo H2009 , they put H7971 the branch H2156 to H413 PREP their nose H639 .
18 Therefore will I H589 PPRO-1MS also H1571 W-CONJ deal H6213 in fury H2534 : mine eye H5869 CMS-1MS shall not H3808 ADV spare H2347 , neither H3808 W-NADV will I have pity H2550 : and though they cry H7121 W-VQQ3MP in mine ears H241 with a loud H1419 AMS voice H6963 CMS , yet will I not H3808 W-NADV hear H8085 them .
