Zechariah 12:1 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 This is a message from the Lord about Israel. The Lord is the one who made the earth and the sky, and he put the human spirit in people. And this is what the Lord said:
2 "Look, I will make Jerusalem like a cup of poison to the nations around her. The nations will come and attack that city, and all of Judah will be caught in the trap.
3 But I will make Jerusalem like a heavy rock—those who try to take it will hurt themselves. They will be cut and scratched. All the nations on earth will come together to fight against Jerusalem.
4 But at that time I will scare the horse, and the soldier riding it will panic. I will make all the enemy horses blind, but my eyes will be open—and I will be watching over Judah's family.
5 The leaders of Judah will encourage the people and say, 'The Lord All-Powerful is your God. He makes us strong.'
6 At that time I will make the leaders of Judah like a fire burning in a forest. They will destroy their enemies like fire burning straw. They will destroy the enemy all around them, and the people in Jerusalem will again be able to sit back and relax."
7 The Lord will save the people of Judah first, so the people in Jerusalem will not be able to brag too much. David's family and the other people who live in Jerusalem will not be able to brag that they are better than the other people in Judah.
8 But the Lord will protect the people in Jerusalem. Even the man who trips and falls will become a great soldier like David. And the men from David's family will be like gods—like the Lord's own angel leading the people.
9 The Lord says, "At that time I will destroy the nations that came to fight against Jerusalem.
10 I will fill David's family and the people living in Jerusalem with a spirit of kindness and mercy. They will look to me, the one they stabbed, and they will be very sad. They will be as sad as someone crying over the death of their only son, as sad as someone crying over the death of their firstborn son.
11 There will be a time of great sadness and crying in Jerusalem. It will be like the time people cry over the death of Hadad Rimmon in Megiddo Valley.
12 Each and every family will cry by itself. The men in David's family will cry by themselves, and their wives will cry by themselves. The men in Nathan's family will cry by themselves, and their wives will cry by themselves.
13 The men in Levi's family will cry by themselves, and their wives will cry by themselves. The men in Simeon's family will cry by themselves, and their wives will cry by themselves.
14 And the same thing will happen in all the other tribes. The men and women will cry by themselves."

2 Behold H2009 IJEC , I H595 PPRO-1MS will make H7760 VQQ3MS Jerusalem H3389 a cup H5592 of trembling H7478 unto all H3605 L-CMS the people H5971 round about H5439 ADV , when they shall be H1961 VQY3MS in the siege H4692 both H1571 W-CONJ against H5921 PREP Judah H3063 and against H5921 PREP Jerusalem H3389 .
3 And in that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS day H3117 will I make H7760 VQY1MS Jerusalem H3389 a burdensome H4614 stone H68 GFS for all H3605 NMS people H5971 : all H3605 NMS that burden H6006 themselves with it shall be cut in pieces H8295 , though all H3605 NMS the people H1471 of the earth H776 D-GFS be gathered together H622 against H5921 PREP-3FS it .
4 In that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS day H3117 B-AMS , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 EDS , I will smite H5221 every H3605 CMS horse H5483 with astonishment H8541 , and his rider H7392 with madness H7697 : and I will open H6491 mine eyes H5869 CMD-1MS upon H5921 W-PREP the house H1004 CMS of Judah H3063 , and will smite H5221 every H3605 W-CMS horse H5483 of the people H5971 with blindness H5788 .
5 And the governors H441 of Judah H3063 shall say H559 in their heart H3820 , The inhabitants H3427 of Jerusalem H3389 shall be my strength H556 in the LORD H3068 of hosts H6635 their God H430 .
6 In that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS day H3117 B-AMS will I make H7760 VQY1MS the governors H441 of Judah H3063 like a hearth H3595 of fire H784 CMS among the wood H6086 , and like a torch H3940 of fire H784 CMS in a sheaf H5995 ; and they shall devour H398 all H3605 NMS the people H5971 round about H5439 ADV , on H5921 PREP the right hand H3225 NFS and on H5921 PREP the left H8040 NMS : and Jerusalem H3389 shall be inhabited H3427 again H5750 ADV in her own place H8478 CMP-3FS , even in Jerusalem H3389 .
7 The LORD H3068 EDS also shall save H3467 the tents H168 of Judah H3063 first H7223 , that H4616 L-CONJ the glory H8597 of the house H1004 CMS of David H1732 and the glory H8597 of the inhabitants H3427 VQPMS of Jerusalem H3389 do not H3808 ADV magnify H1431 themselves against H5921 PREP Judah H3063 .
8 In that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS day H3117 B-AMS shall the LORD H3068 EDS defend H1598 the inhabitants H3427 VQPMS of Jerusalem H3389 ; and he that is feeble H3782 among them at that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS day H3117 B-AMS shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS as David H1732 ; and the house H1004 W-NMS of David H1732 shall be as God H430 , as the angel H4397 of the LORD H3068 EDS before H6440 them .
9 And it shall come to pass H1961 W-VQQ3MS in that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS day H3117 B-AMS , that I will seek H1245 to destroy H8045 all H3605 NMS the nations H1471 D-NMP that come H935 against H5921 PREP Jerusalem H3389 .
10 And I will pour H8210 upon H5921 PREP the house H1004 CMS of David H1732 , and upon H5921 PREP the inhabitants H3427 VQPMS of Jerusalem H3389 , the spirit H7307 NFS of grace H2580 NMS and of supplications H8469 : and they shall look H5027 upon H413 PREP-1MS me whom H834 RPRO they have pierced H1856 , and they shall mourn H5594 for H5921 PREP him , as one mourneth H4553 for H5921 PREP his only H3173 son , and shall be in bitterness H4843 for H5921 PREP him , as one that is in bitterness H4843 for H5921 PREP his firstborn H1060 D-NMS .
11 In that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS day H3117 B-AMS shall there be a great H1431 mourning H4553 in Jerusalem H3389 , as the mourning H4553 of Hadadrimmon H1910 in the valley H1237 of Megiddon H4023 .
12 And the land H776 D-GFS shall mourn H5594 , every family H4940 NFP apart H905 ; the family H4940 NFP of the house H1004 CMS of David H1732 apart H905 , and their wives H802 apart H905 ; the family H4940 of the house H1004 CMS of Nathan H5416 apart H905 , and their wives H802 apart H905 ;
13 The family H4940 of the house H1004 CMS of Levi H3878 apart H905 , and their wives H802 apart H905 ; the family H4940 of Shimei H8097 apart H905 , and their wives H802 apart H905 ;
14 All H3605 NMS the families H4940 that remain H7604 , every family H4940 apart H905 , and their wives H802 apart H905 .
