2 Kings 16:17 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 Ahaz son of Jotham became king of Judah during the 17 year that Pekah son of Remaliah was king of Israel.
2 Ahaz was 20 years old when he became king. He ruled 16 years in Jerusalem. Unlike his ancestor David, Ahaz did not do what the Lord said was right.
3 He lived like the kings of Israel and even burned his son as a sacrifice. He copied the terrible sins of the nations that the Lord had forced to leave the country when the Israelites came.
4 Ahaz made sacrifices and burned incense at the high places and on the hills and under every green tree.
5 King Rezin of Aram and Pekah son of King Remaliah of Israel came to fight against Jerusalem. Rezin and Pekah surrounded Ahaz, but could not defeat him.
6 At that time King Rezin of Aram took back Elath for Aram. Rezin took all the people of Judah who were living in Elath. The Arameans settled in Elath, and they still live there today.
7 Ahaz sent messengers to King Tiglath Pileser of Assyria. The message was: "I am your servant. I am like a son to you. Come and save me from the king of Aram and the king of Israel. They have come to fight me."
8 Ahaz also took the silver and gold that was in the Temple of the Lord and in the treasuries of the king's palace. Then Ahaz sent a gift to the king of Assyria.
9 The king of Assyria listened to Ahaz and went to fight against Damascus. The king captured that city and took the people from Damascus as prisoners to Kir. He also killed Rezin.
10 King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet King Tiglath Pileser of Assyria. Ahaz saw the altar at Damascus. He sent a model and pattern of this altar to Uriah the priest.
11 Then Uriah the priest built an altar just like the model King Ahaz had sent him from Damascus. Uriah the priest built the altar this way before King Ahaz came back from Damascus.
12 When the king arrived from Damascus, he saw the altar. He offered sacrifices on the altar.
13 On the altar, Ahaz burned his burnt offerings and grain offerings. He poured his drink offering and sprinkled the blood of his fellowship offerings on this altar.
14 Ahaz took the bronze altar that was before the Lord from the front of the Temple. This bronze altar was between Ahaz's altar and the Temple of the Lord. Ahaz put the bronze altar on the north side of his own altar.
15 He commanded Uriah the priest, "Use the large altar to burn the morning burnt offerings, the evening grain offerings, and the drink offerings from all the people of this country. Sprinkle all the blood from the burnt offering and other sacrifices on the large altar. But I will use the bronze altar to get answers from God."
16 Uriah the priest did everything that King Ahaz commanded him to do.
17 There were carts with bronze panels and basins for the priests to wash their hands. King Ahaz removed the panels and basins and cut up the carts. He also took the large tank off the bronze bulls that stood under it. He put the large tank on a stone pavement.
18 Workers had built a covered place inside the Temple area for the Sabbath meetings. But Ahaz removed the covered place and the outside entrance for the king. He removed all of these from the Lord's Temple. Ahaz did this because of the king of Assyria.
19 All the great things that Ahaz did are written in the book, The History of the Kings of Judah.
20 Ahaz died and was buried with his ancestors in the City of David. Ahaz's son Hezekiah became the new king after him.

3 But he walked H1980 W-VQY3MS in the way H1870 B-NMS of the kings H4428 CMP of Israel H3478 , yea H1571 W-CONJ , and made his son H1121 CMS-3MS to pass through H5674 the fire H784 , according to the abominations H8441 of the heathen H1471 D-NMP , whom H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS cast out H3423 from before H6440 M-CMP the children H1121 CMS-3MS of Israel H3478 LMS .
4 And he sacrificed H2076 and burnt incense H6999 in the high places H1116 , and on H5921 W-PREP the hills H1389 , and under H8478 every H3605 NMS green H7488 tree H6086 NMS .
5 Then H227 ADV Rezin H7526 king H4428 NMS of Syria H758 EMS and Pekah H6492 son H1121 of Remaliah H7425 king H4428 NMS of Israel H3478 came up H5927 VQY3MS to Jerusalem H3389 to war H4421 : and they besieged H6696 Ahaz H271 , but could H3201 not H3808 W-NPAR overcome H3898 him .
6 At that H1931 time H6256 Rezin H7526 king H4428 NMS of Syria H758 EMS recovered H7725 VHQ3MS Elath H359 to Syria H758 , and drove H5394 the Jews H3064 from Elath H359 : and the Syrians H726 came H935 VQQ3MP to Elath H359 , and dwelt H3427 W-VQY3MP there H8033 ADV unto H5704 PREP this H2088 D-PMS day H3117 D-AMS .
7 So Ahaz H271 sent H7971 W-VQY3MS messengers H4397 to H413 PREP Tiglathpileser H8407 king H4428 NMS of Assyria H804 GFS , saying H559 L-VQFC , I H589 PPRO-1MS am thy servant H5650 and thy son H1121 : come up H5927 , and save H3467 me out of the hand H3709 M-CFS of the king H4428 NMS of Syria H758 EMS , and out of the hand H3709 of the king H4428 NMS of Israel H3478 , which rise up H6965 against H5921 me .
8 And Ahaz H271 took H3947 W-VQY3MS the silver H3701 and gold H2091 that was found H4672 in the house H1004 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS , and in the treasures H214 of the king H4428 D-NMS \'s house H1004 CMS , and sent H7971 W-VQY3MS it for a present H7810 NMS to the king H4428 of Assyria H804 GFS .
9 And the king H4428 NMS of Assyria H804 GFS hearkened H8085 unto H413 PREP-3MS him : for the king H4428 NMS of Assyria H804 GFS went up H5927 W-VHY3MS against H413 PREP Damascus H1834 , and took H8610 it , and carried the people of it captive H1540 to Kir H7024 , and slew H4191 Rezin H7526 .
10 And king H4428 NMS Ahaz H271 went H1980 W-VQY3MS to Damascus H1834 to meet H7122 Tiglathpileser H8407 king H4428 NMS of Assyria H804 GFS , and saw H7200 W-VIY3MS an altar H4196 D-NMS that H834 RPRO was at Damascus H1834 : and king H4428 NMS Ahaz H271 sent H7971 W-VQY3MS to H413 PREP Urijah H223 the priest H3548 the fashion H1823 of the altar H4196 D-NMS , and the pattern H8403 of it , according to all H3605 the workmanship H4639 CMS-3MS thereof .
11 And Urijah H223 the priest H3548 built H1129 W-VQY3MS an altar H4196 D-NMS according to all H3605 K-NMS that H834 RPRO king H4428 D-NMS Ahaz H271 had sent H7971 VQQ3MS from Damascus H1834 : so H3651 ADV Urijah H223 the priest H3548 made H6213 VQQ3MS it against H5704 PREP king H4428 Ahaz H271 came H935 VQFC from Damascus H1834 .
12 And when the king H4428 D-NMS was come H935 W-VQY3MS from Damascus H1834 , the king H4428 D-NMS saw H7200 W-VIY3MS the altar H4196 D-NMS : and the king H4428 D-NMS approached H7126 W-VQY3MS to H5921 PREP the altar H4196 D-NMS , and offered H5927 W-VHY3MS thereon H5921 PREP .
13 And he burnt H6999 his burnt offering H5930 and his meat offering H4503 CFS-3MS , and poured H5258 his drink offering H5262 , and sprinkled H2236 the blood H1818 of his H834 RPRO peace offerings H8002 , upon H5921 PREP the altar H4196 .
14 And he brought H7126 also the brazen H5178 altar H4196 , which H834 RPRO was before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS , from the forefront H6440 L-CMP of the house H1004 D-NMS , from between H996 the altar H4196 D-NMS and the house H1004 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS , and put H5414 W-VQQ3MS it on H5921 PREP the north H6828 side H3409 of the altar H4196 D-NMS .
15 And king H4428 Ahaz H271 commanded H6680 Urijah H223 the priest H3548 , saying H559 L-VQFC , Upon H5921 PREP the great H1419 D-AMS altar H4196 D-NMS burn H6999 the morning H1242 burnt offering H5930 , and the evening H6153 meat offering H4503 , and the king H4428 D-NMS \'s burnt sacrifice H5930 , and his meat offering H4503 CFS-3MS , with the burnt offering H5930 of all H3605 NMS the people H5971 NMS of the land H776 D-GFS , and their meat offering H4503 , and their drink offerings H5262 ; and sprinkle H2236 upon H5921 PREP it all H3605 NMS the blood H1818 CMS of the burnt offering H5930 , and all H3605 NMS the blood H1818 CMS of the sacrifice H2077 NMS : and the brazen H5178 altar H4196 shall be H1961 VQY3MS for me to inquire H1239 by .
16 Thus did H6213 W-VQY3MS Urijah H223 the priest H3548 , according to all H3605 K-NMS that H834 RPRO king H4428 D-NMS Ahaz H271 commanded H6680 VPQ3MS .
17 And king H4428 D-NMS Ahaz H271 cut off H7112 the borders H4526 of the bases H4350 , and removed H5493 W-VHY3MS the laver H3595 from off H5921 M-PREP them ; and took down H3381 the sea H3220 D-NMS from off H5921 M-PREP the brazen H5178 oxen H1241 D-NMS that H834 RPRO were under H8478 it , and put H5414 W-VQQ3MS it upon H5921 M-PREP a pavement H4837 of stones H68 .
18 And the covert H4329 for the sabbath H7676 that H834 RPRO they had built H1129 in the house H1004 , and the king H4428 NMS \'s entry H3996 without H2435 , turned H5437 he from the house H1004 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS for M-CMP the king H4428 NMS of Assyria H804 .
19 Now the rest H3499 of the acts H1697 CMP of Ahaz H271 which H834 RPRO he did H6213 VQQ3MS , are they H1992 PPRO-3MP not H3808 I-NADV written H3789 in H5921 PREP the book H5612 CMS of the chronicles H1697 CMP of the kings H4428 of Judah H3063 ?
20 And Ahaz H271 slept H7901 W-VQY3MS with H5973 PREP his fathers H1 , and was buried H6912 with H5973 PREP his fathers H1 in the city H5892 of David H1732 MMS : and Hezekiah H2396 his son H1121 reigned H4427 in his stead H8478 .
