1 Chronicles 9:20 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 The names of all the Israelites were listed in their family histories. Those family histories were put in the book, The History of the Kings of Israel. The people of Judah were made prisoners and forced to go to Babylon. They were taken there because they were not faithful to God.
2 The first people to come back and live in their own lands and towns were some Israelites, priests, Levites, and servants who work in the Temple.
3 These are the people from the tribes of Judah, Benjamin, Ephraim, and Manasseh who lived in Jerusalem:
4 Uthai was Ammihud's son. Ammihud was Omri's son. Omri was Imri's son. Imri was Bani's son. Bani was a descendant of Perez. Perez was Judah's son.
5 The Shilonites who lived in Jerusalem were Asaiah the oldest son and his sons.
6 The Zerahites who lived in Jerusalem were Jeuel and their relatives. There were 690 of them in all.
7 These are the people from the tribe of Benjamin who lived in Jerusalem: Sallu was Meshullam's son. Meshullam was Hodaviah's son. Hodaviah was Hassenuah's son.
8 Ibneiah was Jeroham's son. Elah was Uzzi's son. Uzzi was Micri's son. And Meshullam was Shephatiah's son. Shephatiah was Reuel's son. Reuel was Ibnijah's son.
9 The family history of Benjamin shows there were 956 of them living in Jerusalem. All these men were leaders in their families.
10 These are the priests who lived in Jerusalem: Jedaiah, Jehoiarib, Jakin, and
11 Azariah. Azariah was Hilkiah's son. Hilkiah was Meshullam's son. Meshullam was Zadok's son. Zadok was Meraioth's son. Meraioth was Ahitub's son. Ahitub was the important official responsible for God's Temple.
12 Also there was Jeroham's son, Adaiah. Jeroham was Pashhur's son. Pashhur was Malkijah's son. And there was Adiel's son, Maasai. Adiel was Jahzerah's son. Jahzerah was Meshullam's son. Meshullam was Meshillemith's son. Meshillemith was Immer's son.
13 There were 1760 priests. They were leaders of their families. They were responsible for the work of serving in God's Temple.
14 These are the people from the tribe of Levi who lived in Jerusalem: Hasshub's son, Shemaiah. Hasshub was Azrikam's son. Azrikam was Hashabiah's son. Hashabiah was a descendant of Merari.
15 Also living in Jerusalem were Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal, and Mattaniah. Mattaniah was Mica's son. Mica was Zicri's son. Zicri was Asaph's son.
16 Obadiah was Shemaiah's son. Shemaiah was Galal's son. Galal was Jeduthun's son. Berekiah was Asa's son. Asa was Elkanah's son. Berekiah lived in the small towns near the people of Netophah.
17 These are the gatekeepers who lived in Jerusalem: Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their relatives. Shallum was their leader.
18 Now these men stand next to the King's Gate on the east side. They were the gatekeepers from the tribe of Levi.
19 Shallum was Kore's son. Kore was Ebiasaph's son. Ebiasaph was Korah's son. Shallum and his brothers were gatekeepers. They were from the family of Korah. They had the job of guarding the gates to the Holy Tent. They did this just as their ancestors had done before them. Their ancestors had the job of guarding the entrance to the Holy Tent.
20 In the past, Phinehas was in charge of the gatekeepers. Phinehas was Eleazar's son. The Lord was with Phinehas.
21 Zechariah was the gatekeeper at the entrance to the Holy Tent.
22 In all there were 212 men who were chosen to guard the gates of the Holy Tent. Their names were written in their family histories in their small towns. David and Samuel the seer chose these men because they could be trusted.
23 The gatekeepers and their descendants had the responsibility of guarding the gates of the Lord's house, the Holy Tent.
24 There were gates on the four sides: east, west, north, and south.
25 The gatekeepers' relatives who lived in the small towns had to come and help them at certain times. They came and helped the gatekeepers for seven days each time.
26 There were four gatekeepers who were the leaders of all the gatekeepers. They were Levites. They had the job of caring for the rooms and treasures in God's Temple.
27 They stayed up all night guarding God's Temple, and they had the job of opening God's Temple every morning.
28 Some of the gatekeepers had the job of caring for the dishes used in the Temple services. They counted them when they were brought in. They also counted these dishes when they were taken out.
29 Other gatekeepers were chosen to care for the furniture and the special dishes. They also took care of the flour, wine, oil, incense, and special oil.
30 But it was the priests who had the job of mixing the special oil.
31 There was a Levite named Mattithiah who had the job of baking the bread used for the offerings. Mattithiah was Shallum's oldest son. Shallum was from the Korah family.
32 Some of the gatekeepers who were in the Korah family had the job of preparing the bread put on the table every Sabbath.
33 The Levites who were singers and leaders of their families stayed in the rooms at the Temple. They did not have to do other work because they were responsible for the work in the Temple day and night.
34 All these Levites were leaders of their families. They were listed as leaders in their family histories. They lived in Jerusalem.
35 Jeiel was Gibeon's father. Jeiel lived in the town of Gibeon. His wife was named Maacah.
36 Jeiel's oldest son was Abdon. Other sons were Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,
37 Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah, and Mikloth.
38 Mikloth was Shimeam's father. Jeiel's family lived near their relatives in Jerusalem.
39 Ner was Kish's father. Kish was Saul's father. And Saul was the father of Jonathan, Malki Shua, Abinadab, and Esh Baal.
40 Jonathan's son was Merib Baal. Merib Baal was Micah's father.
41 Micah's sons were Pithon, Melech, Tahrea, and Ahaz.
42 Ahaz was Jadah's father. Jadah was Jarah's father. Jarah was the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri. Zimri was Moza's father.
43 Moza was the father of Binea. Rephaiah was Binea's son. Eleasah was Rephaiah's son. And Azel was Eleasah's son.
44 Azel had six sons. Their names were Azrikam, Bokeru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan. They were Azel's children.
1 So all H3605 W-CMS Israel H3478 were reckoned by genealogies H3187 ; and , behold H2009 , they were written H3789 in H5921 PREP the book H5612 CMS of the kings H4428 CMP of Israel H3478 and Judah H3063 , who were carried away H1540 to Babylon H894 for their transgression H4604 .
2 Now the first H7223 inhabitants H3427 that H834 RPRO dwelt in their possessions H272 in their cities H5892 were , the Israelites H3478 , the priests H3548 , Levites H3881 , and the Nethinims H5411 .
3 And in Jerusalem H3389 dwelt H3427 VQQ3MP of H4480 PREP the children H1121 of Judah H3063 , and of H4480 PREP the children H1121 of Benjamin H1144 , and of H4480 PREP the children H1121 of Ephraim H669 , and Manasseh H4519 ;
4 Uthai H5793 the son H1121 CMS of Ammihud H5989 , the son H1121 CMS of Omri H6018 , the son H1121 CMS of Imri H566 , the son H1121 CMS of Bani H1137 , of the children H1121 CMS of Pharez H6557 the son H1121 CMS of Judah H3063 .

6 And of H4480 W-PREP the sons H1121 of Zerah H2226 ; Jeuel H3262 , and their brethren H251 , six H8337 RFS hundred H3967 BFP and ninety H8673 .
7 And of H4480 W-PREP the sons H1121 of Benjamin H1144 ; Sallu H5543 the son H1121 of Meshullam H4918 , the son H1121 of Hodaviah H1938 , the son H1121 of Hasenuah H5574 ,

9 And their brethren H251 , according to their generations H8435 , nine H8672 BMS hundred H3967 BFP and fifty H2572 W-MMP and six H8337 . All H3605 NMS these H428 PMP men H376 NMP were chief H7218 CMP of the fathers H1 in the house H1004 of their fathers H1 .
10 And of H4480 W-PREP the priests H3548 ; Jedaiah H3048 , and Jehoiarib H3080 , and Jachin H3199 ,

14 And of H4480 PREP the Levites H3881 ; Shemaiah H8098 the son H1121 CMS of Hasshub H2815 , the son H1121 CMS of Azrikam H5840 , the son H1121 CMS of Hashabiah H2811 , of H4480 PREP the sons H1121 CMS of Merari H4847 ;
15 And Bakbakkar H1230 , Heresh H2792 , and Galal H1559 , and Mattaniah H4983 the son H1121 of Micah H4316 , the son H1121 of Zichri H2147 , the son H1121 of Asaph H623 ;
16 And Obadiah H5662 the son H1121 of Shemaiah H8098 , the son H1121 CMS of Galal H1559 , the son H1121 of Jeduthun H3038 , and Berechiah H1296 the son H1121 of Asa H609 , the son H1121 of Elkanah H511 , that dwelt H3427 in the villages H2691 of the Netophathites H5200 .
17 And the porters H7778 were , Shallum H7967 , and Akkub H6126 , and Talmon H2929 , and Ahiman H289 , and their brethren H251 : Shallum H7967 was the chief H7218 ;
18 Who hitherto H5704 waited in the king H4428 D-NMS \'s gate H8179 eastward H4217 : they H1992 PPRO-3MP were porters H7778 in the companies H4264 of the children H1121 of Levi H3878 .
19 And Shallum H7967 the son H1121 of Kore H6981 , the son H1121 of Ebiasaph H43 , the son H1121 of Korah H7141 , and his brethren H251 , of the house H1004 of his father H1 CMS-3MS , the Korahites H7145 , were over H5921 PREP the work H4399 of the service H5656 , keepers H8104 of the gates H5592 of the tabernacle H168 : and their fathers H1 , being over H5921 PREP the host H4264 of the LORD H3068 EDS , were keepers H8104 of the entry H3996 .
20 And Phinehas H6372 the son H1121 of Eleazar H499 was H1961 VQQ3MS the ruler H5057 NMS over H5921 PREP-3MP them in time past H6440 L-NMP , and the LORD H3068 EDS was with H5973 PREP-3MS him .
21 And Zechariah H2148 the son H1121 of Meshelemiah H4920 was porter H7778 of the door H6607 CMS of the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 .
22 All H3605 CMS-3MP these which were chosen H1305 to be porters H7778 in the gates H5592 were two hundred H3967 MFD and twelve H8147 . These H1992 PPRO-3MP were reckoned by their genealogy H3187 in their villages H2691 , whom David H1732 and Samuel H8050 the seer H7203 did ordain H3245 in their set office H530 .
23 So they H1992 W-PPRO-3MP and their children H1121 had the oversight H5921 PREP of the gates H8179 of the house H1004 of the LORD H3068 EDS , namely , the house H1004 of the tabernacle H168 , by wards H4931 .
24 In four H702 L-NUM quarters H7307 CFP were H1961 VQY3MP the porters H7778 , toward the east H4217 , west H3220 , north H6828 , and south H5045 .
25 And their brethren H251 , which were in their villages H2691 , were to come H935 L-VQFC after seven H7651 L-RMS days H3117 D-NMP from time H6256 to H413 PREP time H6256 NMS with H5973 PREP them H428 DPRO .
26 For H3588 CONJ these H1992 PPRO-3MP Levites H3881 , the four H702 chief H1368 porters H7778 , were in their set office H530 , and were H1961 W-VQQ3MS over H5921 PREP the chambers H3957 and treasuries H214 of the house H1004 CMS of God H430 .
27 And they lodged H3885 VQY3MP round about H5439 the house H1004 CMS of God H430 D-EDP , because H3588 CONJ the charge H4931 was upon H5921 PREP them , and the opening H4668 thereof every morning H1242 pertained to them H1992 W-PPRO-3MP .
28 And certain of H4480 them had the charge of H5921 PREP the ministering H5656 vessels H3627 , that H3588 CONJ they should bring them in H935 and out H3318 by tale H4557 .
29 Some of H4480 them also were appointed H4487 to oversee H5921 PREP the vessels H3627 D-NMP , and all H3605 NMS the instruments H3627 of the sanctuary H6944 , and the fine flour H5560 , and the wine H3196 , and the oil H8081 , and the frankincense H3828 , and the spices H1314 .
30 And some of H4480 W-PREP the sons H1121 of the priests H3548 made H7543 the ointment H4842 of the spices H1314 .
31 And Mattithiah H4993 , one of H4480 PREP the Levites H3881 , who H1931 PPRO-3MS was the firstborn H1060 of Shallum H7967 the Korahite H7145 , had the set office H530 over H5921 PREP the things that were made H4639 M-CMS in the pans H2281 .
32 And other of H4480 W-PREP their brethren H251 , of the sons H1121 of H4480 W-PREP the Kohathites H6956 , were over H5921 PREP the shewbread H3899 NMS , to prepare H3559 it every sabbath H7676 .
33 And these H428 W-PMP are the singers H7891 , chief H7218 CMP of the fathers H1 of the Levites H3881 , who remaining in the chambers H3957 were free H6362 : for H3588 CONJ they were employed H5921 PREP-3MP in that work H4399 day H3119 ADV and night H3915 W-NMS .
34 These H428 PMP chief H7218 CMP fathers H1 of the Levites H3881 were chief H7218 NMP throughout their generations H8435 ; these H428 PMP dwelt H3427 VQQ3MP at Jerusalem H3389 .
35 And in Gibeon H1391 dwelt H3427 VQQ3MP the father H1 CMS of Gibeon H1391 , Jehiel H3273 , whose wife H802 CFS-3MS \'s name H8034 W-CMS was Maachah H4601 :
36 And his firstborn H1060 son H1121 Abdon H5658 , then Zur H6698 , and Kish H7027 , and Baal H1168 , and Ner H5369 , and Nadab H5070 ,
37 And Gedor H1446 , and Ahio H283 , and Zechariah H2148 , and Mikloth H4732 .
38 And Mikloth H4732 begot H3205 VHQ3MS Shimeam H8043 . And they H1992 PPRO-3MP also H637 W-CONJ dwelt H3427 VQQ3MP with H5973 PREP their brethren H251 at Jerusalem H3389 , over against H5048 their brethren H251 CMP-3MP .
39 And Ner H5369 begot H3205 VHQ3MS Kish H7027 ; and Kish H7027 begot H3205 VHQ3MS Saul H7586 ; and Saul H7586 begot H3205 VHQ3MS Jonathan H3083 , and Malchi H4444 - shua , and Abinadab H41 , and Esh H792 - baal .
40 And the son H1121 W-CMS of Jonathan H3083 was Merib H4807 - baal : and Merib H4810 - baal begot H3205 VHQ3MS Micah H4318 .
41 And the sons H1121 W-CMP of Micah H4318 were , Pithon H6377 , and Melech H4429 , and Tahrea H8475 , and Ahaz .
42 And Ahaz H271 begot H3205 VHQ3MS Jarah H3294 ; and Jarah H3294 begot H3205 VHQ3MS Alemeth H5964 , and Azmaveth H5820 , and Zimri H2174 ; and Zimri H2174 begot H3205 VHQ3MS Moza H4162 ;
43 And Moza H4162 begot H3205 VHQ3MS Binea H1150 ; and Rephaiah H7509 his son H1121 , Eleasah H501 his son H1121 , Azel H682 his son H1121 .
44 And Azel H682 had six H8337 sons H1121 NMP , whose names H8034 are these H428 W-PMP , Azrikam H5840 , Bocheru H1074 , and Ishmael H3458 , and Sheariah H8187 , and Obadiah H5662 , and Hanan H2605 : these H428 PMP were the sons H1121 NMP of Azel H682 .
