Numbers 10 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 The Lord said to Moses,
2 "Make two trumpets. Use silver and hammer it to make the trumpets. These trumpets will be for calling the people together and for telling them when it is time to move the camp.
3 If you blow long blasts on both trumpets, all the people must meet together at the entrance of the Meeting Tent.
4 But if you blow long blasts on only one trumpet, only the leaders will come to meet with you. (These are the leaders of the twelve tribes of Israel.)
5 "Short blasts on the trumpets will be the way to tell the people to move the camp. The first time you blow a short blast on the trumpets, the tribes camping on the east side of the Meeting Tent must begin to move.
6 The second time you blow a short blast on the trumpets, the tribes camping on the south side of the Meeting Tent will begin to move.
7 But if you want to gather the people together for a special meeting, blow the trumpets in a different way—blow a long steady blast on the trumpets.
8 Only Aaron's sons, the priests, should blow the trumpets. This is a law for you that will continue forever, for generations to come.
9 "If you are fighting an enemy in your own land, blow loudly on the trumpets before you go to fight them. The Lord your God will hear you, and he will save you from your enemies.
10 Also blow these trumpets for your special meetings, New Moon celebrations, and all your happy times together. Blow the trumpets when you give your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. This will be a special way for the Lord your God to remember you. I command you to do this; I am the Lord your God."
11 On the 20 day of the second month of the second year after the Israelites left Egypt, the cloud rose from above the Tent of the Agreement.
12 So the Israelites began their journey. They left the Sinai desert and traveled until the cloud stopped in the desert of Paran.
13 This was the first time the people moved their camp. They moved it the way the Lord commanded Moses.
14 The three divisions from Judah's camp went first. They traveled under their flag. The first group was the tribe of Judah. Nahshon son of Amminadab was the commander of that group.
15 Next came the tribe of Issachar. Nethanel son of Zuar was the commander of that group.
16 And then came the tribe of Zebulun. Eliab son of Helon was the commander of that group.
17 Then the Holy Tent was taken down. And the men from the Gershon and the Merari families carried the Holy Tent. So the people from these families were next in line.
18 Then came the three divisions from Reuben's camp. They traveled under their flag. The first group was the tribe of Reuben. Elizur son of Shedeur was the commander of that group.
19 Next came the tribe of Simeon. Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai was the commander of that group.
20 And then came the tribe of Gad. Eliasaph son of Deuel was the commander of that group.
21 Then came the Kohath family. They carried the holy things from inside the Holy Tent. These people came at this time so that the other people could set up the Holy Tent and make it ready at the new camp before these people arrived.
22 Next came the three groups from Ephraim's camp. They traveled under their flag. The first group was the tribe of Ephraim. Elishama son of Ammihud was the commander of that group.
23 Next came the tribe of Manasseh. Gamaliel son of Pedahzur was the commander of that group.
24 Then came the tribe of Benjamin. Abidan son of Gideoni was the commander of that group.
25 The last three tribes in the line were the rear guard for all the other tribes. These were the groups from Dan's camp. They traveled under their flag. The first group was the tribe of Dan. Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai was their commander.
26 Next came the tribe of Asher. Pagiel son of Ocran was the commander of that group.
27 Then came the tribe of Naphtali. Ahira son of Enan was the commander of that group.
28 That was the way the Israelites marched when they moved from place to place.
29 Hobab was the son of Reuel, the Midianite. (Reuel was Moses' father-in-law.) Moses said to Hobab, "We are traveling to the land that God promised to give to us. Come with us and we will be good to you. The Lord has promised good things to the Israelites."
30 But Hobab answered, "No, I will not go with you. I will go back to my homeland and to my own people."
31 Then Moses said, "Please don't leave us. You know more about the desert than we do. You can be our guide.
32 If you come with us, we will share with you all the good things that the Lord gives us."
33 So they began traveling from the mountain of the Lord. The priests took the Box of the Lord's Agreement and walked in front of the people. They carried the Holy Box for three days, looking for a place to camp.
34 The Lord's cloud was over them every day. And when they left their camp every morning, the cloud was there to lead them.
35 When the people lifted the Holy Box to move the camp, Moses always said, "Get up, Lord! May your enemies be scattered. May your enemies run away from you."
36 And when the Holy Box was put in its place, Moses always said, "Come back, Lord, to the millions of Israelites."

2 Make H6213 VQI2MS thee two H8147 ONUM trumpets H2689 of silver H3701 NMS ; of a whole piece H4749 shalt thou make H6213 VQY2MS them : that thou mayest use H1961 W-VQQ3MS them for the calling H4744 of the assembly H5712 , and for the journeying H4550 of the camps H4264 .
3 And when they shall blow H8628 with them , all H3605 NMS the assembly H5712 shall assemble themselves H3259 to H413 PREP thee at H413 PREP the door H6607 CMS of the tabernacle H168 NMS of the congregation H4150 .
4 And if H518 W-PART they blow H8628 but with one H259 B-RFS trumpet , then the princes H5387 , which are heads H7218 CMP of the thousands H505 BMP of Israel H3478 LMS , shall gather themselves H3259 unto H413 PREP-2MS thee .
5 When ye blow H8628 an alarm H8643 , then the camps H4264 that lie H2583 on the east parts H6924 shall go forward H5265 .
6 When ye blow H8628 an alarm H8643 the second time H8145 CFS , then the camps H4264 that lie H2583 on the south side H8486 shall take their journey H5265 : they shall blow H8628 an alarm H8643 for their journeys H4550 .
7 But when the congregation H6951 is to be gathered together H6950 , ye shall blow H8628 , but ye shall not H3808 W-NPAR sound an alarm H7321 .
8 And the sons H1121 W-CMP of Aaron H175 , the priests H3548 , shall blow H8628 with the trumpets H2689 ; and they shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS to you for an ordinance H2708 forever H5769 NMS throughout your generations H1755 .
9 And if H3588 ye go H935 to war H4421 NFS in your land H776 against H5921 PREP the enemy H6862 that oppresseth H6887 you , then ye shall blow an alarm H7321 with the trumpets H2689 ; and ye shall be remembered H2142 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 , and ye shall be saved H3467 from your enemies H341 .
10 Also in the day H3117 of your gladness H8057 , and in your solemn days H4150 , and in the beginnings H7218 of your months H2320 , ye shall blow H8628 with the trumpets H2689 over H5921 PREP your burnt offerings H5930 , and over H5921 PREP the sacrifices H2077 of your peace offerings H8002 ; that they may be H1961 W-VQQ3MS to you for a memorial H2146 before H6440 L-CMP your God H430 : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 .
11 And it came to pass H1961 W-VQY3MS on the twentieth H6242 day of the second H8145 D-ONUM month H2320 BD-NMS , in the second H8145 D-ONUM year H8141 , that the cloud H6051 was taken up H5927 from off H5921 M-PREP the tabernacle H4908 of the testimony H5715 .
12 And the children H1121 of Israel H3478 took H5265 their journeys H4550 out of the wilderness H4057 of Sinai H5514 ; and the cloud H6051 rested H7931 in the wilderness H4057 of Paran H6290 .
13 And they first H7223 BD-AFS took their journey H5265 according to H5921 PREP the commandment H6310 of the LORD H3068 EDS by the hand H3027 B-CFS of Moses H4872 .
14 In the first H7223 BD-AFS place went H5265 W-VQY3MS the standard H1714 of the camp H4264 of the children H1121 of Judah H3063 according to their armies H6635 : and over H5921 W-PREP his host H6635 was Nahshon H5177 the son H1121 of Amminadab H5992 .
15 And over H5921 W-PREP the host H6635 of the tribe H4294 of the children H1121 of Issachar H3485 was Nethaneel H5417 the son H1121 of Zuar H6686 .
16 And over H5921 W-PREP the host H6635 of the tribe H4294 of the children H1121 of Zebulun H2074 was Eliab H446 the son H1121 of Helon H2497 .
17 And the tabernacle H4908 was taken down H3381 ; and the sons H1121 of Gershon H1648 and the sons H1121 W-CMP of Merari H4847 set forward H5265 , bearing H5375 the tabernacle H4908 .
18 And the standard H1714 of the camp H4264 of Reuben H7205 set forward H5265 according to their armies H6635 : and over H5921 W-PREP his host H6635 was Elizur H468 the son H1121 of Shedeur H7707 .
19 And over H5921 W-PREP the host H6635 of the tribe H4294 of the children H1121 of Simeon H8095 was Shelumiel H8017 the son H1121 of Zurishaddai H6701 .
20 And over H5921 W-PREP the host H6635 of the tribe H4294 of the children H1121 CMP of Gad H1410 was Eliasaph H460 the son H1121 CMP of Deuel H1845 .
21 And the Kohathites H6956 set forward H5265 , bearing H5375 the sanctuary H4720 : and the other did set up H6965 the tabernacle H4908 against H5704 PREP they came H935 .
22 And the standard H1714 of the camp H4264 of the children H1121 of Ephraim H669 set forward H5265 according to their armies H6635 : and over H5921 W-PREP his host H6635 was Elishama H476 the son H1121 of Ammihud H5989 .
23 And over H5921 W-PREP the host H6635 of the tribe H4294 of the children H1121 of Manasseh H4519 was Gamaliel H1583 the son H1121 of Pedahzur H6301 .
24 And over H5921 W-PREP the host H6635 of the tribe H4294 of the children H1121 of Benjamin H1144 was Abidan H27 the son H1121 of Gideoni H1441 .
25 And the standard H1714 of the camp H4264 of the children H1121 CMP of Dan H1835 set forward H5265 , which was the rearward H622 of all H3605 L-CMS the camps H4264 throughout their hosts H6635 : and over H5921 W-PREP his host H6635 was Ahiezer H295 the son H1121 CMP of Ammishaddai H5996 .
26 And over H5921 W-PREP the host H6635 of the tribe H4294 of the children H1121 of Asher H836 was Pagiel H6295 the son H1121 of Ocran H5918 .
27 And over H5921 W-PREP the host H6635 of the tribe H4294 of the children H1121 of Naphtali H5321 was Ahira H299 the son H1121 of Enan H5881 .
28 Thus H428 PMP were the journeyings H4550 of the children H1121 of Israel H3478 according to their armies H6635 , when they set forward H5265 .
29 And Moses H4872 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto Hobab H2246 , the son H1121 of Raguel H7467 the Midianite H4084 , Moses H4872 \' father H2859 - in - law , We H587 PPRO-1MP are journeying H5265 unto H413 PREP the place H4725 D-NMS of which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS , I will give H5414 VQY1MS it you : come H1980 VQI2MS-3FS thou with H854 PREP-1MP us , and we will do thee good H3190 : for H3588 CONJ the LORD H3068 EDS hath spoken H1696 VPQ3MS good H2896 AMS concerning H5921 PREP Israel H3478 LMS .
30 And he said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-3MS him , I will not H3808 NADV go H1980 VQY1MS ; but H3588 CONJ I H518 PART will depart H1980 to H413 PREP mine own land H776 , and to H413 PREP my kindred H4138 .
31 And he said H559 W-VQY3MS , Leave H5800 VQY2MS us not H408 NPAR , I pray thee H4994 IJEC ; forasmuch H5921 PREP as thou knowest H3045 VQQ2MS how we are to encamp H2583 in the wilderness H4057 , and thou mayest be H1961 W-VQQ2MS to us instead of eyes H5869 .
32 And it shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS , if H3588 CONJ thou go H1980 VQY2MS with H5973 PREP-1MP us , yea , it shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS , that what H834 RPRO goodness H2896 D-NMS the LORD H3068 EDS shall do H3190 unto H5973 PREP-1MP us , the same will we do H3190 unto thee .
33 And they departed H5265 from the mount H2022 of the LORD H3068 EDS three H7969 BMS days H3117 NMP \' journey H1870 NMS : and the ark H727 of the covenant H1285 NFS of the LORD H3068 EDS went H5265 before H6440 L-CMP-3MP them in the three H7969 BMS days H3117 NMP \' journey H1870 NMS , to search out H8446 a resting place H4496 for them .
34 And the cloud H6051 of the LORD H3068 EDS was upon H5921 PREP-3MP them by day H3119 ADV , when they went H5265 B-VQFC-3MP out of H4480 PREP the camp H4264 .
35 And it came to pass H1961 W-VQY3MS , when the ark H727 set forward H5265 , that Moses H4872 said H559 W-VQY3MS , Rise up H6965 , LORD H3068 EDS , and let thine enemies H341 be scattered H6327 ; and let them that hate H8130 thee flee H5127 before H6440 thee .
36 And when it rested H5117 , he said H559 VQY3MS , Return H7725 , O LORD H3068 EDS , unto the many H7233 thousands H505 BMP of Israel H3478 LMS .
