Judges 10 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 After Abimelech died, God sent another judge to save the Israelites. His name was Tola. He was the son of Puah, who was the son of Dodo. Tola was from the tribe of Issachar and lived in the city of Shamir, in the hill country of Ephraim.
2 Tola was a judge for the Israelites for 23 years. Then he died and was buried in the city of Shamir.
3 After Tola died, God sent another judge. His name was Jair, and he lived in the area of Gilead. He was a judge for the Israelites for 22 years.
4 Jair had 30 sons who rode 30 donkeys. These 30 sons controlled 30 towns in the area of Gilead. These towns are called the Towns of Jair to this very day.
5 Jair died and was buried in the city of Kamon.
6 Again the Israelites did what the Lord said was wrong. They began worshiping the false gods Baal and the Ashtoreth. They also worshiped the gods of the people of Aram, the gods of the people of Sidon, the gods of the Moabites, the gods of the Ammonites, and the gods of the Philistines. The Israelites left the Lord and stopped serving him.
7 So the Lord became angry with the Israelites and allowed the Philistines and the Ammonites to defeat them.
8 In that same year those people destroyed the Israelites who lived on the east side of the Jordan River, in the area of Gilead. That is the land where the Amorites had lived. The Israelites suffered for 18 years.
9 The Ammonites then went across the Jordan River to fight against the people of Judah, Benjamin, and Ephraim. The Ammonites brought many troubles to the Israelites.
10 So the Israelites cried to the Lord for help. They said, "God, we have sinned against you. We left our God and worshiped the false god Baal."
11 The Lord answered the Israelites, "You cried to me when the Egyptians, the Amorites, the Ammonites, and the Philistines hurt you. I saved you from these people.
12 You cried to me when the people of Sidon, the Amalekites, and the Midianites hurt you. I also saved you from those people.
13 But you left me and started worshiping other gods, so I refuse to save you again.
14 You like worshiping those gods, so go call to them for help. Let them save you when you are in trouble."
15 But the Israelites said to the Lord, "We have sinned. Do whatever you want to do to us, but please save us today."
16 Then the Israelites threw away the foreign gods and began to worship the Lord again. So he felt sorry for them when he saw them suffering.
17 The Ammonites gathered together for war. Their camp was in the area of Gilead. The Israelites gathered together. Their camp was at the city of Mizpah.
18 The leaders of the people living in the area of Gilead said, "Whoever leads us in the attack against the Ammonites will become the head of all the people living in Gilead."

3 And after H310 PREP-3MS him arose H6965 W-VQY3MS Jair H2971 , a Gileadite H1569 , and judged H8199 Israel H3478 twenty H6242 and two H8147 W-OFD years H8141 NFS .
4 And he had H1961 W-VPY3MS thirty H7970 MMP sons H1121 NMP that rode H7392 on H5921 PREP thirty H7970 MMP ass colts H5895 , and they had thirty H7970 W-MMP cities H5892 , which are called H7121 Havoth H2334 - jair unto H5704 PREP this H2088 D-PMS day H3117 D-AMS , which H834 RPRO are in the land H776 B-GFS of Gilead H1568 .
5 And Jair H2971 died H4191 W-VQY3MS , and was buried H6912 in Camon H7056 .
6 And the children H1121 CMP of Israel H3478 did H6213 L-VQFC evil H7451 again H3254 in the sight H5869 B-CMP of the LORD H3068 EDS , and served H5647 Baalim H1168 , and Ashtaroth H6252 , and the gods H430 CDP of Syria H758 EMS , and the gods H430 CDP of Zidon H6721 , and the gods H430 CDP of Moab H4124 , and the gods H430 CDP of the children H1121 CMP of Ammon H5983 , and the gods H430 CDP of the Philistines H6430 , and forsook H5800 the LORD H3068 EDS , and served H5647 not H3808 W-NPAR him .
7 And the anger H639 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS was hot H2734 against Israel H3478 , and he sold H4376 them into the hands H3027 B-CFS of the Philistines H6430 TMS , and into the hands H3027 of the children H1121 of Ammon H5983 .
8 And that H1931 year H8141 they vexed H7492 and oppressed H7533 the children H1121 of Israel H3478 : eighteen H8083 MFS years H8141 NFS , all H3605 NMS the children H1121 of Israel H3478 that H834 RPRO were on the other side H5676 Jordan H3383 D-EFS in the land H776 B-GFS of the Amorites H567 D-TMS , which H834 RPRO is in Gilead H1568 .
9 Moreover the children H1121 of Ammon H5983 passed over H5674 Jordan H3383 D-EFS to fight H3898 also H1571 CONJ against Judah H3063 , and against Benjamin H1144 , and against the house H1004 of Ephraim H669 ; so that Israel H3478 was sore H3966 ADV distressed H3334 .
10 And the children H1121 of Israel H3478 cried H2199 W-VQY3MP unto H413 PREP the LORD H3068 EDS , saying H559 L-VQFC , We have sinned H2398 against thee , both because H3588 W-CONJ we have forsaken H5800 our God H430 , and also served H5647 Baalim H1168 .
11 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H3413 the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , Did not H3808 I-NADV I deliver you from the Egyptians H4714 M-TFS , and from H4480 W-PREP the Amorites H567 D-TMS , from H4480 W-PREP the children H1121 of Ammon H5983 , and from H4480 W-PREP the Philistines H6430 ?
12 The Zidonians H6722 also , and the Amalekites H6002 , and the Maonites H4584 , did oppress H3905 you ; and ye cried H6817 to H413 PREP-1MS me , and I delivered H3467 you out of their hand H3027 .
13 Yet ye H859 W-PPRO-2MP have forsaken H5800 me , and served H5647 other H312 AMP gods H430 EDP : wherefore H3651 L-ADV I will deliver H3467 you no H3808 ADV more H3254 VHY1MS .
14 Go H1980 VQI2MP and cry H2199 unto H413 PREP the gods H430 D-EDP which H834 RPRO ye have chosen H977 ; let them H1992 PPRO-3MP deliver H3467 you in the time H6256 of your tribulation H6869 .
15 And the children H1121 CMP of Israel H3478 said H559 W-VQY3MP unto H413 PREP the LORD H3068 EDS , We have sinned H2398 : do H6213 VQI2MS thou H859 PPRO-2MS unto us whatsoever H3605 seemeth good H2896 D-NMS unto H5869 thee ; deliver H5337 us only H389 ADV , we pray thee H4994 IJEC , this H2088 D-PMS day H3117 D-AMS .
16 And they put away H5493 the strange H5236 gods H430 CDP from among H7130 them , and served H5647 the LORD H3068 EDS : and his soul H5315 NMS-3MS was grieved H7114 for the misery H5999 of Israel H3478 LMS .
17 Then the children H1121 of Ammon H5983 were gathered together H6817 , and encamped H2583 in Gilead H1568 . And the children H1121 of Israel H3478 assembled themselves together H622 , and encamped H2583 in Mizpeh H4709 .
18 And the people H5971 and princes H8269 CMP of Gilead H1568 said H559 W-VQY3MP one H376 NMS to H413 PREP another H7453 NMS-3MS , What H4310 IPRO man H376 D-NMS is he that H834 RPRO will begin H2490 to fight H3898 against the children H1121 of Ammon H5983 ? he shall be H1961 VQY3MS head H7218 over all H3605 the inhabitants H3427 of Gilead H1568 .
