Zechariah 11 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 Lebanon, open your gates so that the fire will come and burn your cedar trees.
2 The cypress trees will cry because the cedar trees have fallen. Those powerful trees will be taken away. Oak trees in Bashan will cry for the forest that was cut down.
3 Listen to the crying shepherds. Their powerful leaders were taken away. Listen to the roaring of the young lions. Their thick bushes near the Jordan River have all been taken away.
4 The Lord my God says, "Care for the sheep that have been raised to be killed.
5 Owners kill their sheep and are not punished. Those who sell the sheep and say, 'Praise the Lord, I am rich!' The shepherds don't feel sorry for their sheep.
6 And I don't feel sorry for the people who live in this country." This is what the Lord said: "Look, I will let everyone be under the control of their neighbor and king. I will let them destroy the country—I will not stop them!"
7 So I took care of the sheep that had been raised to be killed—those poor sheep. I found two sticks. I called one stick Favor, and I called the other stick Union. Then I began caring for the sheep.
8 I fired the three shepherds all in one month. I got angry at the sheep, and they began to hate me.
9 Then I said, "I quit! I will not take care of you! I will let those that want to die, die. I will let those who want to be destroyed, be destroyed, and those who are left will destroy each other."
10 Then I took the stick named Favor, and I broke it. I did this to show that God's agreement with his people was broken.
11 So that day the agreement was finished, and those poor sheep watching me knew that this message was from the Lord.
12 Then I said, "If you want to pay me, pay me. If not, don't!" So they paid me 30 pieces of silver.
13 Then the Lord told me, "So that's how much they think I'm worth. Throw that large amount of money into the Temple treasury." So I took the 30 pieces of silver and threw them into the treasury at the Lord's Temple.
14 Then I cut the stick named Union into two pieces. I did this to show that the union between Judah and Israel had been broken.
15 Then the Lord said to me, "Now, get the things a foolish shepherd might use.
16 This will show that I will get a new shepherd for this country. But this young man will not be able to take care of the sheep that are being destroyed. He will not be able to heal the hurt sheep or feed those that are left alive. And the healthy ones will be eaten completely—only their hoofs will be left."
17 Too bad for you, you worthless shepherd! You abandoned my sheep. Punish him! Strike his arm and right eye with a sword. His arm will be useless. His right eye will be blind.

3 There is a voice H6963 CMS of the howling H3215 of the shepherds H7462 ; for H3588 CONJ their glory H155 is spoiled H7703 : a voice H6963 CMS of the roaring H7581 CFS of young lions H3715 NMP ; for H3588 CONJ the pride H1347 CMS of Jordan H3383 is spoiled H7703 .
4 Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 EDS my God H430 ; Feed H7462 the flock H6629 NMS of the slaughter H2028 ;
5 Whose H834 RPRO possessors H7069 slay H2026 them , and hold themselves not guilty H816 : and they that sell H4376 them say H559 VQY3MS , Blessed H1288 VWQ3MS be the LORD H3068 EDS ; for I am rich H6238 : and their own shepherds H7462 pity H2550 VQY3MS them not H3808 W-NPAR .
6 For H3588 CONJ I will no H3808 NADV more H5750 ADV pity H2550 the inhabitants H3427 of the land H776 D-GFS , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 EDS : but , lo H2009 IJEC , I H595 PPRO-1MS will deliver H4672 the men H120 D-NMS every one H376 NMS into his neighbor H7453 NMS-3MS \'s hand H3027 B-CFS , and into the hand H3027 of his king H4428 : and they shall smite H3807 the land H776 D-GFS , and out of their hand H3027 I will not H3808 W-NADV deliver H5337 them .
7 And I will feed H7462 the flock H6629 NMS of slaughter H2028 , even you , O poor H6041 of the flock H6629 . And I took H3947 unto me two H8147 ONUM staves H4731 ; the one H259 I called H7121 VQQ1CS Beauty H5278 , and the other H259 I called H7121 VQQ1CS Bands H2256 ; and I fed H7462 the flock H6629 .
8 Three H7969 BMS shepherds H7462 also I cut off H3582 in one H259 MMS month H3391 ; and my soul H5315 CFS-1MS loathed H7114 them , and their soul H5315 CFS-3MP also H1571 W-CONJ abhorred H973 me .
9 Then said H559 W-VQY1MS I , I will not H3808 NADV feed H7462 you : that that dieth H4191 , let it die H4191 ; and that that is to be cut off H3582 , let it be cut off H3582 ; and let the rest H7604 eat H398 every one H802 NFS the flesh H1320 CMS of another H7468 .
10 And I took H3947 my staff H4731 , even Beauty H5278 , and cut it asunder H1438 , that I might break H6565 my covenant H1285 B-CFS-1MS which H834 RPRO I had made H3772 VQQ1MS with H854 PREP all H3605 NMS the people H5971 .
11 And it was broken H6565 in that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS day H3117 B-AMS : and so H3651 ADV the poor H6041 of the flock H6629 that waited upon H8104 me knew H3045 W-VQY3MP that H3588 CONJ it H1931 PPRO-3MS was the word H1697 NMS of the LORD H3068 EDS .
12 And I said H559 W-VQY1MS unto H413 PREP-3MP them , If H518 PART ye think good H2895 , give H3051 VQI2MP me my price H7939 ; and if H518 PART not H3808 NADV , forbear H2308 . So they weighed for my price H7939 thirty H7970 MMP pieces of silver H3701 NMS .
13 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP me , Cast H7993 it unto H413 PREP the potter H3335 : a goodly H145 price H3366 that H834 RPRO I was prised at H3365 of M-PREP-3MP them . And I took H3947 the thirty H7970 MMP pieces of silver H3701 , and cast H7993 them to H413 PREP the potter H3335 in the house H1004 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS .
14 Then I cut asunder H1438 mine other H8145 D-ONUM staff H4731 , even Bands H2256 , that I might break H6565 the brotherhood H264 between H996 PREP Judah H3063 and Israel H3478 LMS .
15 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 me , Take H3947 VQI2MS unto thee yet H5750 ADV the instruments H3627 CMS of a foolish H196 shepherd H7462 VQPMS .
16 For H3588 CONJ , lo H2009 IJEC , I H595 PPRO-1MS will raise H6965 VHPMS up a shepherd H7462 VQPMS in the land H776 B-NFS , which shall not H3808 ADV visit H6485 VQY3MS those that be cut off H3582 , neither H3808 ADV shall seek H1245 the young one H5289 , nor H3808 NADV heal H7495 that that is broken H7665 , nor H3808 NADV feed H3557 that that standeth still H5324 : but he shall eat H398 VQY3MS the flesh H1320 of the fat H1277 , and tear their claws in pieces H6561 .
17 Woe H1945 to the idol H457 shepherd H7473 that leaveth H5800 the flock H6629 ! the sword H2719 GFS shall be upon H5921 PREP his arm H2220 , and upon H5921 PREP his right H3225 CFS-3MS eye H5869 CMS : his arm H2220 shall be clean dried up H3001 , and his right H3225 CFS-3MS eye H5869 W-CMS shall be utterly darkened H3543 .
